Apparently, you can escape Earth's gravitational pull by going 7 MPH. This doesn't mean however that you can jump up and be lifted off to outer space. Tell me what you think, because I don't know if I can trust these people or not.

Sniper bullets can escape gravity's pull. Having a constant 9.81 m/s in a direction opposing gravity would make you float in place. Having an opposing gravitational field would make you push off of the Earth's surface. 7 Mph is how fast you cruise on your bike.
