Yeah, you should feel what it is like in America! Knowing we have thousands of ICBMs, 20 submarines that carry 7600 times the power of the hiroshima bomb, B-2 stealth bombers, the best fighter the Raptor etc. The one thing I worry about though is our mentality of " If we are going down, we are taking the whole f***ing world with us."
Though you are lucky we see you as an allied nation...because where else would we station our arctic force?

I read some of the comments on that youtube video.

I don't know why people take an incident like this and use it to show off how amazing they are, how powerful their country is, how they kick ass, how great they are at being the best.... blah blah blah....

I find it all pretty immature and strange, it's not a game, it's real people, real violence and death. This shouldn't be about stroking their egos...

don't you mean "UNA! UNA! UNA!"

they should just do some Philidelphia Experiment action on those ships

zap the pirates into 2109 where there's no water where there was in 2009...
poof their ship is sitting in a barren desert that used to be the sea floor.

Well that really is the one flaw that ATS has.
That it has no IQ test requirements.

"Cut his head off"

I am just thankfull for the dudes family. Cannot imagine what they have been going through ever since he gave himself over to the pirates to safe the lives off his crew.

Now something has to be said when someone does that. No matter whom killed those pirates. Just remember the french also rescued, hostages also. Lets hope this will be a wake up call to those nations who have escorts in and around that area.

Lets not turn the topic in to a flaming contest please tyvm.

Any country could have pulled off that rescue, lol. SEALS up against 4 teenage pirates one of which was already in custody. Far more arduous and far far more dangerous missions are occurring daily in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Unfortunately I do - draconian laws, poor education, poor health, poor minimum wages, lack of freedom. Yeah America, # NO. If it takes incredibly minor incidents like these for some Americans to beat their chests it shows just how far this country has fallen. Damn shame.

I'm glad you're speaking for yourself.

It does show just how large and varied this country really is so that we can all have completely different experiences.

Are there issues with the US?
Hell yeah.

Can they be dealt with?
Yes

Are we now or ever have been perfect?
No

Has there ever been a "Perfect" country or city state on Earth?
No.

Of all the responses so far, yours is by far the most important.

The SEAL's? Good men, doing brave things, as we've come to expect. Pirates? Doing what pirates do, and getting their just desserts when all is said and done.

That ship captain? A brave, brave man who most certainly didn't have to do what he did, yet did it anyway. A hero in the truest sense of the term. I'm glad he made it safely home.

Are they dealth with - NO. This country is hamstrung by so many special interest groups and greed. What ever happened to the days of Kennedy - "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for it" - Almost every young person these days is about what I can get for myself - The I am more important than everyone else syndrome.

Are we now or ever have been perfect?
No

Exactly, so why do so many here say that America is perfect and so far ahead of every other country ? It isn't.

They are the ignorant ones.

Who other than some rudimentary knowledge of post WWII don't have a clue about how the rest of the world in the 80s and 90s gained wealth so now the US and her large cities and skyscrapers no longer seem as impressive as they once appeared.

not to generalize all americans here but damn it really pisses me off when i hear these dumb comments from amercans about how they could take on the whole world if they wanted to, it aint no game when real lives are involved it aint x-box live for gawds sake the pirates still had family at the end of the day, you wouldnt be here gloating about it if it was your family involved

americans need to drop the better than everybody else attitude its the reason the world's perceptions of you are the way they are
