Conspiracy theories and secret societies aside, most people are starting to acknowledge that this nation is on unsure footing. Just how unpredictable is, naturally, in question-- Early on in late 2008, and immediately after Obama was elected I saw countless 'positive' pieces of journalism explaining why this was going to be short, the market would turn on dime, that change was going to happen-- you name it, they said it.

Today there's nothing. Scant do read a positive blog or article. The stock market continues to plunge. At this rate (the last three months) the S&P500 will hit zero by the end of the year...the DJIA will be a meager 1500. Neither Fed nor the Obama administration appear to be providing any solace. Likewise worldwide the situation is just as dire as our closest ally has already come begging for aide. Mexico is under civil unrest, the conflict pouring over the boarder amounting to as many as one kidnapping per day of American citizens in Arizona and countless infractions with American law enforcement. Pakistan is in a 'state of war' after conceding to insurgents. The Ukraine is about to go under with a slew of Eastern European states. The flawless integrity of Swiss banks is now an illusion of the past. Puerto Rico has declared itself bankrupt. I could go on, but you have paying attention to the news. You know as well as I that the future could be dire--

But now to the point of my post. What will you do? What can you do? I will propose 5 scenarios below, please provide your actions.

1. Market failure (i.e. Great Depression) Food shortages and soup lines. Massive unemployment.

2. Mexican spillover, Mexican immigrants go on a rampage in name of Reconquista movement in conjuction with current violence in Mexico

3. Obama begins an agressive campaign against dissenters against his campaign akin to dictators in the past. The freedom of speech is gone, and guns, forget it. American civil unrest occurs.

4. The UK and US venture into this Global New Deal. Obama scraps the Constitution with international support and becomes defacto leader of the socialist world. No civil unrest-- in fact we welcome it.

5. Terrorist attack on US soil, nuclear, threats of more to come in coming days. Muslim immigrants begin open violence and attacks on American citizens. (Same in Europe)

Great thread! I think there is a lot of this sort of practicality lacking among CTists (including myself). We love to see the doom... but don't provide positive solutions.

The only problem with your premise is assuming that there is a mutual exclusivity in the problems. If we hit this point, I think there may be considerable overlap on these problems.

1) Great Depression: Join the military. This will probably be the most stable job at this time. There will be rations and an income.

2) Mexican spillover: I don't agree with the reconquista element with this idea, as the spillover would occur because of a Mexican collapse. So, these will be people who are desperate. Thankfully, I am not along the border, but, I would have to adopt a wait and see approach. If this was a reconquista I would expatriate to Australia or New Zealand.

3) Obama crackdown: I, unfortunately, would be one of the first to be cracked down upon... so, I think I would be in the camps. Confronted with the working with the administration option or being sent to a camp, I would stick to my beliefs. Maybe lead a prison revolt? I don't know on this one, and I hope it doesn't occur.

4) World Gov't Moves: Try to work within the system to protect individuals and work for a good and just world government. There would be no preventing it, so it would be a matter of making it as just and good as possible

5) Muslim rage: Hopefully this would not happen in the United States. However, IF it did, I would probably either join the military (yes, I would give into the Flag or False Flag patriotism) or I would expatriate.

Very interesting topic.

[Muslim immigrants begin open violence and attacks on American citizens.]

Who ever wants to really follow the Constitution, that's where I'm going.
I don't know what more to say.

I recall Obama, being interviewed before the Super Bowl, saying it was going to get worse before it gets better.

Anybody who believed that the election of Obama was going to turn the economy around virtually overnight was seriously misguided.

There is eight years of corruption and incompetence to correct. It's going to take awhile to fix.

Do not answer questions like these. Why do posters like this remind me of the Tavistock Institute? Oh, and look. the poster JUST registered 3 days ago. How surprising.

Look deeper at the questions the OP has asked. Ask yourself "Who in the government/thinktanks would like to know that information?".

Ask yourself another question: "Who would WANT those kinds of scenarios?".

Again, never, ever answer those kinds of questions.
