Friday? I will buy a powerball ticket. --nothing too bad coming up, I hope because I am going to be on the road and the Merry Men will have to deal. I'll leave 'em my Cisco manual!

That blast of ICMP that Internet Storm Center mentioned is worrisome. That is one of those things that just swamps you no matter how well protected you are. We have not recorded any more 1025/tcp or 5000/tcp, either. Did you see that port 443 scans surpassed port 135 today? Who'd thought that would ever come to pass?

Here's to a quiet week...

I am afraid I don't have any.

My suggestions for the future

Get a good firewall

Get an anti-virus system

Beware of worms.

Download only what you need

Don't open things that look suspicious

So much for not seeing the increased ICMP traffic reported by ISC yesterday... We are getting clobbered by pings from the new 'Sasser.D' variant and unless our ISP can block it upstream we will continue to suffer a performance hit as our hardware has to deal with it.

My cable connection at home started getting pinged about 05:00 today, too, about 75 hit per hour.

"Dabber" got off to a good start with 9898/TCP scans jumping up by 36% after midnight Friday. Something has bumped up 4000/TCP, too.
