For those who cry for socialism, you have no idea what it is to live in a society with no dreams, no promise and no future. You don't know what it is to live without the basics...I'm not talking about XBox, Netflix or Hot Pockets...I'm talking about life without running water, electricity and privacy.

You mean like Israel, and most of northern Europe. Where exactly are you talking about.

Perhaps you would be happier in Hong Kong, Don't let the door knob poke you in the ass on your way out.

BTW I'm not a socialist but I damn sure want the same kind of Health insurance my congressmen/representives get; that I pay for. Is that Socialism?

I just moved out of the ghetto to a better neighborhood. I guess in a year or two (maybe less) I'll have to move again...Out of the US.

I like hot who like to live it up and enjoy luxuries. There won't be anymore here when they stop wearing makeup in exchange for dirt on their faces (from mandatory public service).

Soylent Green is people.

GLTA and thanks in advance.

to be against socialism is a symptom of lack of basic knowledge about life in general
(not just OP's)

why would anyone want to equally share wealth when you can selfishly take all by yourself (and kill many people with hunger as a consequence)?

pathetic

YES...

BUT many AMERICANS feel that social individualism is the AMERICAN way.

You can't change peoples core values, it is like DARWINS theory being law of the land as many of us know...

AFRICA

I do not agree with letting people go with out the basics in the name of WARREN BUFFET, but, only tyrants would suggest taking WB money.

We need to find the middle, agree that we won't rob the hundred billionaires and agree not to let the hungry starve.

Calling a homeless man lazy, therefore homeless, is the attitude that has to go.

OR calling a billionaire evil, etc...

I can relate, but what do you say to the PRIVATE individuals who created the current system and companies?

Both. Socialism is an invention by social individualists to control the masses.

The people were fed Soylent Green, and it was good. They were never told what it was. Corporations and scoopers existed at the same time and the poor slept on the streets and forgot how good life once was.

Soylent Green is the most accurate portrayal of the future ever on film.

YA but film NEVER could have predicted the wide variety of flavors available in the 21st century!

Once again, epic posting sir.

I think the current system works fine with socialism for the rich and law of the jungle for the poor.

Most of the right wing nuts in this thread think Socialism is what Rush tells them it is. They wouldn't know real socialism if it bitem in the butt.

Schools out, now go play with your Wii Wii.

Well I was hoping the RUSH devotees could offers some ideas... It does not seem like many think investing is smart so...

I mean investing with PRIVATE money is what the RIGHT extreme touts.

NONE (RU#ES) have even suggested cutting spending, so just pile on the word socialism.

Funny thing the BEATLES and ELVIS were both "SOCIALISTS" in 63.

You are a slave under the current system. Nearly everyone is indentured to debt, taxes, and a job that barely pays enough to get by. The population work their entire lives to keep head above the surface and not drown in the sea of debt and taxes while the federal government plays international imperialist games and enriches those who don't need the enrichment. Do you prefer that it remain this way?

Granted, aspects of the enslavement are self-imposed. But, then, Americans are conditioned beginning in their pre-verbal years to don the shackles without realizing what they are doing to themselves.

You are wrong. Socialism opposes state management of resources completely. Profit is totally absorbed because it is distributed via a meritocratic system in various labor syndicates.

Furthermore:

-In socialism, you CAN Have private property.
-In socialism, you DO have a say where your money goes.
-Socialism is NOT in practice anywhere around the world and has never been close to realization.

In other words, socialism would probably be more preferable to what we have now.

The only problem I have with socialism is the way it measures obligation and the worth of human capital. (It doesn't. It provides for needs only, thus it requires a willing proletariat with no desire for further gains.) Thus, it is a faith-based system, and far from reality if ever.

War creates long term employment! YOUR whole existence is unpatriot, so don't go telling me.

What would we do with 200,000,000 a day anyways?

BTW BUSH inherited the debt from OBAMA and the war from CLINTON!

I suggest you learn what it means to be a partiotic!

Don't fall for the "socialism" booga, booga. We've been hearing that from corporations for years. All of these bailouts are nothing but well designed welfare for corporate executives. Socialism is great for CEO's and politicians but bad for people like you and me, for whom it was really intended. Don't fall for the octo-mommy thing. A hundred of those won't add to the bonus going to the head of Lehman Brothers. It's a distraction away from some really nasty stuff. The "socialism" boogie-man has been a dangerous concept co-opted by many. Hitler did it, Lenin did it, but what their governments really did was just plain old dictatorships. In the U.S., a republic was co-opted by corporations to produce a cash-cow out of the public treasury and a dictatorship by those very corporate honcho's. Now, all of those "-ism's" and systems don't work when applied to everything across the board. I think that our problems are not simple and they do not have simple answers. We need fresh thinking which may include pieces from every "-ism" and maybe some new ones.

Yeah invest and get capitalism going again!!! That'll get rid of the socialism!!! I think you just discovered the number one problem with socialism. What happens when everything gets better? It disappears and becomes capitalism again.

They shouldn't have to share their profits! They shouldn't have to pay their employees a living wage or provide their employees health insurance! They shouldn't have to pay those high corporate taxes! They should be able to hide all that in tax shelters right? It's the free market! This is isn't socialism! It's their money. They "earned" it! and they should be able to do whatever they want with it! So what if the poor starve to death in the street? What have they ever done for me? They should get a real job, pick themselves up by their bootstraps right?

Until they go broke of course. Then socialism doesn't sound so bad does it? Until of course they turn another profit and it's their turn to share again right? I was homeless once. Where was my billion dollar bailout? I've been laid off and my wife too. Where was the bailout for our companies that went broke and left us with no job? There was no bailout. Not for normal people that just want to live.

There's only two ways this can go down. If you wanna be pro free market and have the rich and the poor then that's fine with me, but you should STAY pro market when you go broke and become one of the poor.

If you want bailouts then shouldn't I get one too? Why don't I get one? Where's my check? The next time you work and earn some money do you wanna share it with me? See, we don't really have either system. They're just playing by whatever rules they want at any given time so it always works out for them.

I'll do some research and write up a post on why socialism is bad. I'll also show how there is not a difference between Socialism, Corporatism, Fascism, Communism, etc. I'll also show how we can never(at least in my lifetime) have a complete free and unregulated market.

It is going to take me a few hours to gather all the sources and write up the post.

In a nut shell though any type of government structure that is big and massive and is left to the duty of providing for the people that don't have the will or drive to do anything for themselves only grows bigger and becomes unsustainable.

At this time, I would recommend some trickle down economics, If we give the money and tax breaks to the rich, they will be able to make more jobs and pay us for our products.

I think some of you on here need to read up on what Socialism and what a Socialist State really is.

As far as I am aware, there are only FIVE nations in the whole world that can be deemed as Socialist States.

Well then where's my billion dollar check? Every time I ask for mine they tell me we don't do that in a free market system. Where's my free house or paid rent? Other people get it, but not me. When I ask they say we don't do that in a free market system! So which is it? A welfare society or not? If it is then I want my FREE STUFF!

Of course we can't have a completely free and unregulated market when the people at the top play by whatever rules currently work best for them. What are the rules gonna be tomorrow? Whatever they say they are right?
