hello

this has somewhat startled me...the possibility of misuse is obvious:

news.bbc.co.uk...

'His interim report, to be officially published later, says teaching children about emotional well-being and social skills should be a compulsory part of the curriculum.
It says that pupils should have the "personal, social and emotional qualities essential to their health, well-being and life as a responsible citizen in the 21st Century".'

It suggests that there could be six broader "areas of learning", rather than up to 14 individual subjects, such as history, geography and science.
These six areas would be: understanding English, communication and languages; mathematical understanding; scientific and technological understanding; human, social and environmental understanding; understanding physical health and well-being; understanding the arts and design.

sounds like brain washing on the school curriculum is on its way...

Yep. Lessons on "being happy". Maybe someone should seek their specific definition on "happy" before they allow this to happen...

Kids shouldn't need lessons to "be happy". That's what anti-depressants are for...

Sounds to be a lot less "lessons in being happy",and more "teaching complacency and apathy".

To me the reason so many young people are unhappy with the world, and the way it "works" is due to the fact that the world truly IS messed up.

Instead of educating young people as to how we can make things better, they would rather educate them on how to know their role, and let the gov't take care of the world.

I'm sure those in charge are quite aware of,and no doubt talk about the fact that if the young people ever decided to rise up and change things, then they could be in very real danger of losing their position as the "elite".

exactly...kids have got no good role models...cheating sports stars on drugs..rap stars with guns..fast cars and naked women... politicians who are time and again shown to be lying....policemen who are either corrupt or not allowed to help..soldiers taking part in ridiculous missions..

change that and the kids will change...but..that isnt what these people want..as you say..they want to implant kids with ideals..not make them happy..
