I think the contract would have been worth alot more than an MRO contract for the KC-135's IMHO

www.boeing.com...

Its unclear how long the contract is for or if the 1.1 Billion is an estimated anount or a fixed cost.

RP et al. do you have more details about the 300-400+ days MRO's the air frames are undergoing? That amount of time suggests they are redoing the wing skins, new engines and avionics etc.

PDM involves deskinning the aircraft, inspecting under the skin, and putting the skin back on. That's if there's no corrosion. If there's corrosion they have to repair it first, and then put the skin back on. While they're doing that they're also doing any planned upgrades to the aircraft. They inspect the engines, the fuel system, and everything else on the plane.

The 300-400 days MRO I was talking about is not a single block, its spread out over the 3 year period as normal maintenance.

Hence why its a significant amount - there are no huge changes being made to the aircraft, its all standard maintenance just to keep it flying.
