the idea of being shot at by a fat, racist, fast-food swallowing hunter with a gun bigger than his ego doesn't really appeal to me...

I bet ignorant and uninformed statements like this are a big part of the reason why the OP does not like to talk american politics with people from other countries. I like to talk politics with people from all around the world, but if you are truly that misinformed about the citizens of any one country you have no business talking about the citizens let alone the politics of that country.

You don't need guns. We have VERY LOW crime here where I live (Not in America
), perhaps it is your way of live to destroy.

moomoo...you pay taxes and like it....American's rebeled against taxation and won their freedom! I love my freedom, I hate taxation on my labour.

You can keep your taxation till the cows come home moomoo....I will stand with liberty and justice.

Perhaps the idea of cohesion in society and low crime scares you. The fact that you have to contribute to a government that works on your behalf.

socialism is scary indeed. I don't have to arm myself to the teeth and live in fear. I don't have to worry about education for my children or when they go to school or get ill. And our country does not have to bully other countries and over 50% of our energy needs are green and housing is available to all.

I guess it depends on what you value.

Boy have I been suckered.

You should appreciate the opinions of other nations . A lot of you seem to act like the stepford wives in a bizaar pseudo reality where the simple acts of waving flags and back slapping each other as to how (supposidly) great and free your nation serves only to allow you to become functionally sociopathic and resent and deny any (outside) opinion that highlights your shocking and disgraceful acts abroad . You'd rather watch mindless distracting tv just so long as you benefit from these immoral policies and no awkward questions asked to upset the delusional paradigm of a society of virtue and moral integrity.

I arm myself becaue I have the right to do it. I have the right given to me by the Constitution to bare arms. I exercise that right as a free man.

I will not give up that right because some one in power has decided not to pay heed the constitution.

I am not afraid at all in the streets of America and I have lived in many cities. Atlanta, Tulsa, Dallas, Los Angelas, Alhambra, Pasedena, Thousand Oaks etc..etc. I am not afraid because an armed society is a polite society.

So far as the rest of the world goes I hear stories all the time about the US.

I have a note i recieved last year that says "GO HOEM YOU F%%^ AMERICAN" pinned to my truck. I lady told me the other day that people are lynched in America every day. People who have not lived in the USA should educate themselves by living here rather then listening to the propaganda that you call the BBC or CNN or MSNBC or FOX NEWS.

I am out of country as we speak and I defend America everyday by word and by deed. The USA is by far the best, of all the nations I have lived in period.....enough said.

I know...I have lived in many different countries. I am about to retire and I will retire to the very heartland of the USA.

You rights? I don't see much defence of those rights, which is what the right to carry arms was for.

Defend? I see "pre-emptive" ATTACKS not defence.

The rights of America are being pushed forward by Rep and Sen, such as Ron Paul.

Freedom is something that you must fight for daily. The price of freedom is vigilance.

I am practicing part of my right to free speech by posting on this American website based in the heartland of the country.

I am practicing my right to bear arms by going to the gun range a few days ago here in Canada.

I am educating myself on my rights by reading a book concerning Jefferson.

So far as the preemptive stuff.....America has many enemies within her borders. They are not black, brown, yellow or white...they are big corps, big goverment and big police.

I have spoken to many guys on various police forces and they agree.....the enemy is not the people...it is big corps, big goverment and big police! Chew on that.

Our next president isnt just going to effect the US, but the WHOLE DAMM WORLD!!!

If you can't get that thru your head... well... oh well...

My thoughts EXACTLY. Just look around. Has the world changed because of the President that was elected 7 years ago? I think the answer is obvious.

Besides...who cares if people from around the world discuss on ATS American politics? It's just their opinion. No more, no less.

I got to admit - that video is hilarious. But, you have to understand the intent of the journalist: to make American's look stupid.

How many people did he interview that said, "Why the hell do you have France or Iran in the place of Austrailia?!" Or answered Ukraine.

Of course those answers were not shown. Answers such as that would have gone against the intent of the journalist.

But, you knew that, right? Because your media isn't biased and has no agenda ... right?

LMAO.

They are making assumptions and thoughts and theories about a Country they have never had the pleasure of living in. If you are so worried about our presidential race i suggest you move over here and deal with what real Americans have to deal with on an everyday basis. I don't talk about politics in your country so return the favor to the American People and butt out of our discussions.

Fine! That being said, can you and your country get your arse out of Iraq and Afganistan? Also, can you stop trying to interfer in the politics of Iran and the rest of the world. Get a life and grow up.

America is a Republic, based on the Constituion of the United States of America.

A democracy and a republic are two different things.

With that said I do admire the Swiss.

Excellent post. Sweden and Switzerland are prime examples of what having true freedom and Democracy is all about. Amazing countries and amazing people. To have that type of freedom in the rest of the world would be amazing.

In the Republic of the United Stated of America the consitution must stand even if a majority vote comes against the constitution according to Jefferson.

The majority vote cannot rule over the minority when it comes to the constitution.

The constitution can be ammended but only if it strengthens the freedom and liberty of those in the United States.

I am no expert I am simply repeating some opinions of the Founding Fathers.

Again, I understand some of the issues but I am not a expert in constitutional law.

And I repeat I admire the Swiss. I admire France as well. Also Canada!

Keep your fantasy in your own mind. as you your self said you have never lived here you take the worst news story"s and think our whole nation is like that. That is pure ignorance. shame on you and shame on all those who starred your ignorance. Get the facts from the people not from the so called news. Ignorance will kill every body. have you also checked other nations. I have guess what you find the same things going on in all nations. I guess you are ignorant to that as well. As stated Ignorance will kill us all

Excuse my outside interfering...but didn't the colonies rebel because there was taxation without representation?

Of course...I'm just an ignorant foreigner, so I probably shouldn't say.

I must be missing something. I told mr-lizard that most americans are not as he described and that it is an ingorant statement. Now where does your statement fit in here? based on my reply to mr-lizard what gives you the impression that it is my way of life to destroy? The reality is that america is just as diverse as any other country when it comes to race, religion beliefs, political affiliations, standards and morals etc.

Mabye I misunderstood you, If I did I apologise, but If I didnt please explain what in the world gave you the impression that It is my way of life to destroy?

Except that both nations also have skeletons in their closets from somewhat checkered pasts. Lot of nazi sympathism during World War II, for example. All of which goes to my point that make sure you're perfect before criticizing someone else.
