Hello, long time reader, first time poster. Been really interested in this site and it has really opened my eyes to what I have had as a gut feeling
for some time now. Keep up the great work guys!
I am in planning and getting ready to build a underground shelter and had a few questions about the design and use of such a thing. I have read in
multiple places that digging below ground about 10 meters (30 feet) is an appropriate depth to maintain a good temperature year round. My question is
how does such a shelter fare during a rainstorm or worse a flood where ground water is a problem at such depths. I am planning on building on a
elevated area but this is still a concern for long term use. Has anyone had much experience with such shelters?
Ideally I would like to build a shelter that can provide warmth and fresh air, while protecting from the elements and providing a safe cover from
undesired intrusion. Electricity is also a concern, but wanted to make sure that everything was in place underground before I started to worry about
generators or solar energy.
Any design or helpful guides would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!
