What are your feelings on the passage in Matthew 7:6

"Do not give holy things to dogs. Do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they might walk all over them. Then they might turn around and tear you to pieces."

Maybe, I just lack understanding here but this passage has troubled me for a very long time.

Is it better to keep information to yourself or attempt to help others understand? Christ, the Disciples and John the Baptist - all lost their lives to bring us information. Do we live in a time now, where we are safe enough in our environment, to openly discuss the mysteries or are we bound by this passage to keep certain things to ourselves?

Any thoughts?

There's a certain way to speak with them, because they don't have the best of hearing. The precious items may then be delivered to the recipients, while the swine wallow in their things.

Pork wrestling can be quite draining, until one figures out they are quite happy in the mud all by themselves.

The judgment is, that those who see might be made blind and those blind might be made to see.

Well at this point my thoughts are that the water will run off the concrete and happily soak into the dirt near by. Wherever that may be. There doesn't appear to be much wasted.

It basically means that you shouldn't debate the Scriptures. If your pearls of wisdom aren't accepted by that person, don't toss them because it's as good as tossing pearls to swine. What we should do is just turn and walk away, shake the dust and pray for them. This is what Christ and His apostles did when their message(s) weren't received by the inhabitants of whatever town they happened to be visiting. Some people, no matter how hard you try, just aren't going to accept what you have to say no matter how you say it. It's the heart that discerns, not the mind.
