It\'s thought the outage has been caused by two transformer fires, and transport services have been particularly affected

There has been a serious power outage in Barcelona this morning, which has brought chaos to the city.

A spokesman for the Fecsa-Endesa company confirmed that several parts of the city had been affected,

A serious electricity outage has struck Barcelona today. Fires in two transformers are most probably the cause for this event, but it\'s not clear what has caused these fires. News about this event are still not widespread, at this moment there are very few sources in English.

Yeah, if it happened in London, or in any major US city, all hell would probably break loose.

I've been wondering about the cause of this incident. Heavy use of air conditioners means heavy burden for electricity distribution system. IMO, overload on one of the transformers probably caused fire, thus increasing system overload even more and causing overheating and fire on second transformer, and this led to distribution system breakdown. However, this is just a speculation, I could be completely wrong...
