Got this in an email, couldnt agree more!

Now I sit me down in school

Where praying is against the rule

For this great nation under God

Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,

It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow

Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,

That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.

The law is specific, the law is precise.

Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice

For praying in a public hall

Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,

God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,

And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.

They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.

To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,

And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.

It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,

We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,

Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,

No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,

When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:

Should I be shot; My soul please take!

Amen

two lines in and it perpetuates a myth! no supreme court ruling has ever said that personal prayer is illegal in this country.

For this great nation under God

under god, added to the pledge of allegiance in 1954
the pledge of allegiance was created in.... 1892

Finds mention of Him very odd.

It violates the Bill of Rights.

again, wrong. scripture can be studied as literature in school. hell, my senior english class studied the book of job.

And anytime my head I bow

Becomes a Federal matter now.

again with the myth.

actually, that's wrong as well. only mandatory prayer is illegal. a student can lead a prayer if they chose to.

Might offend someone with no faith at all.

oh... i see where this is going. the big bad atheists are oppressing the christian majority...

In silence alone we must meditate,

didn't jesus say something about being humble in prayer instead of obnoxious in your faith?

God's name is prohibited by the state.

no, it's prohibited to be used by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,

And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.

They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.

the bible isn't outlawed... and neither are guns...
hell, my public highschool had at least 2 dozen copies of the bible in the library

To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

well, considering some of the lines in the bible are enough to get it banned by those that are the bible thumpers...

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,

And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.

boo hoo, state of moral decay.

It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,

We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

again, not true. schools teach moral philosophy in their classes. just because they teach people to think for themselves doesn't mean they don't teach morality.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,

Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,

again, yes they are. they just can't be paid for by taxpayers.
hell, i studied the ten commandments as part of our "history of the mid-east" unit in world history.

No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,

When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

really? schools used to be places where certain individuals couldn't feel safe. like homosexuals. when the bible was being used as a textbook they were regularly beaten for being different...

listen, this is just a stinking pile of horse excrement. there is no oppression of the christians in this country. there is S E C U L A R I S M in america.

to quote the UNANIMOUSLY approved treaty of tripoli (ratified by the 5th congress)

the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion

^ Cosign!

"Ohh my...they want to lock up our bible. NO...I WILL NOT LET YOU STOP ME FROM READING MY BIBLE."

As if we try to stop you. If you feelin prayerful...by all means...pray!

Some of these religious ones are so rediculous at times.

exactly, just don't force the rest of the class do to it.

i've said this in another thread: bad christians, you can't have a persecution complex. not yours

Madness is correct when he states that Jesus said to pray in secret and not to be haughty about it.

see, even atheists know a thing or two about that guy. you don't need a whole room to pray with you to be praying properly.
