University of British Columbia researchers have discovered that contrary to common belief, species do not evolve faster in warmer climates

Interesting debunking of a common evolutionary theory.

I read about this the other day, very interesting.

A s fro debunkin, well I think that's the wrong term, tropics do have
high evolutin rates, because of more mutations in the area.

I am interested to see how true this really is, that is what species
does this perhaps not apply to.

Interesting article, I wasn't aware there was a theory to why there are more species in tropical areas let alone even a theory to debunk.

Just to throw this into the mix, in the tropics there are more insect type species, which can't survive in northern latitudes. I would say that gives the impression of more species in the tropics. So does every species of insect count the same as say a species of mammal? If so then there is no mystery to this, me thinks.
