MPs have voted to reform the House of Lords by demanding all members are elected, rather than appointed.
There was a majority of 113 in favour of this proposal.

I am glad that the MPs have finally voted for this. Back when Labour first got into power, this was one of their main ideas - but they backed down to keep the House of Lords on side so that they could make it easier to push legislation through. (In my opinion). Now with the end of Tony Blair nearing it is though they have less to loose.

Furthermore, I dislike how un-democratic the House of Lords are. They get to vote on your lives, but we have very little control of who is in the House of Lords. But I do also admit that this will allow for a Political Party to gain power in both houses easier and to force more legislation through.
