They are sitting down the bottom of the table, albiet they have been unlucky in a few games. But things just got worse for them as they announced a loss of 8million. They will have no money to spend in the January transfer window and they now look a cert to go straight back down.

Mick McCarthy has done a good job at Sunderland and you cant blame him if there is a lack of money at the club. They just don't have enough decent players...

Its looking more likely that i am right, but, Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy is confident his side can score enough goals to make Barclays Premiership survival a real possibility. They got a good draw against Bolton on boxing day who have been flying, but thats just one result and they are finding them hard to come by and time is running out, so i can't see where McCarthy is comming from.

They just don't have the players and the funds to get themselves out of trouble and will stay firmly rooted to the bottom of the league at the end of the season.
