Birmingham City have swooped to sign Tunisian international Mehdi Nafti. The Blues have beaten the transfer deadline to seal a loan deal for Nafti, who arrives from Spanish side Racing Santander. The 26-year-old has joined with a view to a permanent deal and follows the recent captures of Salif Diao and Jermaine Pennant. French-born Nafti began his career with Toulouse before moving to Racing in 2000

"It is a great opportunity and challenge for me," Nafti stated.

"I had another offer from England and it was a big decision.
