What is going on people?

So far, as of the writing of this message, we've been averaging more than 100 guests at any given time, and we have 145 new members in the past 24 hours!!!

Also, the stats are through the roof... with 7 hours left in the day...

17,029 unique visitors
4.2 gigabytes of bandwidth
147,000+ page-views

By far, the biggest single day in ATS history. Does anyone know what has caused this sudden-jump in awareness and visitors.

Holy crap!

Is much of it the google news-bot?

Perhaps the site was mentioned on a high-profile website or TV program?

do you mods consider this a good thing?

Yes, it's a good thing. Especially since our new Dual-Xenon dedicated server can handle this (our previous single-Pentium server would be dead-on-the-road right now).

When looking at the active users, none are currently the Google-Bot. While Google did recently finish its monthly shuffle, the suddent surge must be from some other source. I'm hoping one of our new members will see this and respond.

Maybe The collective Continence looking for answers! People are sick of the mainstream media bullhonkey!
It's a far fetched answer, but who knows?
Congratulations on your success!

Actually I have been hitting the refresh button a lot.

(just kidding!)

I would wonder if a mainstream link or media comment was out there.

Can you check the refferral links in stats to see if there are any that stand out in perportion to 'normal'?

Carefull!
If you get too big too fast, Big Bro might feel threatened.
Remember they don't like people having their say unless they tell them what to say!

what about selecting all new users, create survey....ask the question we're all dying to know

a 3-step procedure that will settle this thread's answer...no doubt on that

We are at the top of some new searches.

And there are lots of Big-Brother's helpers who are already members... active, contributing members.

To improve server performance, I've disabled the tracking of referring sites in Apache (makes a difference)... but today, I'm sorry I did.

Can you tell what forum is most actively being read? What is everybody so interested in?

The reason for the heavy traffic is a mention in the weekly Kim Komando Electronic Newsletter with favorable commentary about being an enjoyable site to view

She is a heavy... make that "HEAVY" hitter in pc technology with a weekly radio show and writes tons of articles for different publications.

Her web site is www.kimkomando.com

Ooooops... it wasn't her weekly electronic newsletter, it was her daily "cool internet site of the day"

... you've been named as the Kim Komando Cool Site of the Day for yesterday. She's a radio talk show host that puts on the most listened to computer show on radio. It's a real good show, and she found your site so cool that she recommended it to her millions of listners.

So...

Sorry boys, your main-stream now.
