Sorry if this thread excludes some of our more rural members, but I know fellow city dwellers probably have a lot to share!
I must say the most interesting/memorable talk with a taxi driver in New York City took place right after the beginning of the second Iraq War. I was
alone coming home from a club or bar or something downtown, got into a cab and told him I need to go to the UWS. After a minute or two I tried to
strike up a conversation and asked hiim where he was from -- the answer: "Kuwait"
So naturally I had to ask him what he thinks of the war and then he goes on an anti-Iraqi tirade for the rest of the trip calling all Iraqis dogs and
pigs and they should all die horrible deaths, etc., etc., etc.
At first I tried to discuss the various issues, but then realizing he just hated all Iraqis no matter what, I did my best to keep an agreeing smile on
my face and gave him a nice tip when I (finally and thankfully) got home safely.
