U.N. : India is now the world leader in AIDS cases

U.N. officals have declared that India now has the largest number of AIDS cases in the world with 5.7 million people infected. This figure surpasses South Africa's 5.5 million. They further warned that the disease is spreading unchecked. However this is absolute number if measured on a per capita basis Africa remains the leader with some countries showing a 30% infection rate.

The report delivered on the eve of the 25 anniversary of the first documented AIDS case really seems to point out the dangers but IMHO fails to provide a concrete plan to deal with the complex issues surrounding AIDS and its spread.

This is going to take a global effort and quite frankly as much as I hate to admit it, the Vatican also needs to drop its condom stance as well as President Bush and allow these temporary measures untill a cheap adequate vaccine can be developed.
