For me personally the best invention as got to be the Internet, a few reasons are :

1/ we can all now talk to anybody anywhere in the world who as a computer hooked up to the net.
2/ the amount of information at our finger tips
3/ it helps with all forms of research just look at the seti@home project.

that's just 3 reasons at the end of the day the world become smaller the day the internet became available to every 1

Many point to the wheel as one of mankind's greatest inventions.

It is a pretty good one, no doubt, but I think the better invention was the axle.

The pointed tip.
Really, this was the watershed moment in the history of mankind. The pointed tip became the first tool to multiply the innate strength and agility of humans. Hunting became easier, life became leisure-intensive. It's a no brainer.

The "lever" in it's various forms or discovery of the principles of mechanical advantage seems relavent. Even the wheel is a lever not to mention the helical screw type fastener and the Archimedes screw... hmmm.

Any of the Tesla patents seems important too... the Gutenberg Press? Great question...

Thanx for the "mind-knot", enjoy the weekend,

Victor K.

Without a doubt the greatest creation of mankind is the written word. Before that knowledge was passed word of mouth. With the invention of the writtten word knowledge began to accumulate and libriaries were born. As knowledge began to build it lead to the world we live in today.

after some thought the best invention as to be MAN(humans).

after looking in the dictionary it states

in·ven·tion [ in vénshən ] (plural in·ven·tions)

noun

Definition:

1. created thing: a thing that somebody has created, especially a device or process

2. act of creating: the creation of something new

3. lie: a lie, or the telling of lies ( often used euphemistically )

4. creative ability: the talent to create new things

5. music short instrumental work: a short instrumental work, usually for keyboard, that has two or three parts and employs the technique of counterpoint

nature created Man, so it did actually invent us.
