Back in the 60s, they created ELIZA, a program that would basically rephrase what you said in order to simulate a therapist. Some people actually fell for it, which at first seems mindboggling, but then think about what you know about therapists...

Here's a text of my conversation.

>> Hello.
How do you do. Please state your problem.
>> I love the girl down the hall
You say you love the girl down the hall ?
>> Yes, I do
You seem to be quite positive.
>> Well, I really like her
Can you elaborate on that ?
>> She's gorgeous. Perfect height, Irish, green eyes, amazing dark red hair, and a lot of spunk
I'm not sure I understand you fully.
>> She's amazing
Please go on.
>> I love her, and I really wanna be with her
Do you say you love her for some special reason ?
>> She makes me melt inside
What does that suggest to you ?
>> I should ask her out?
That's quite interesting.
>> I'm scared
Is it because you are scared that you came to me ?
>> Yes
You are sure.
>> I think
You say you think ?
>> I just don't know
Can you elaborate on that ?

Don't get fooled!

Back many many moons ago, when I got one of the first SoundBlaster Pro's, it came with a similar program called Dr. Sbaitso. The main difference was that it spoke the responses as well. You don't know how many different ways I found to make it cuss when my mom wasn't around
