Is there a reason that we capitalize the personal pronoun "I"? it's not as if "I" is a proper noun. And we don't capitalize "me", either. Anyone have any idea?

...

The rules of English dont relate to each other much. We just make it up as we go along. They have classes in Ebonics now. I love this language!

If God were writing, "me" would be capitalized!

'twould, 'twould...

And i thought that the ebonics classes only lasted for a few years. Suppose that was wrong...

Is there any other language as mutable and mutated as english?

Modern and Middle English I developed
from earlier i in the stressed position. I came to be written
with a capital letter thereby making it a distinct word and avoiding
misreading handwritten manuscripts.

Oh, i suppose that makes sense, that it was used to stress the letter as an important word...

But why were people so pompous as to do that?

Tired insane theory: it's whoever's in control, trying to keep us focussed on our selves rather than others.

Rationalesque theory: People are just self-absorbed.
