A Tijuana native named Oscar Antonio Ortiz has been arrested for charging $300 dollars a head for groups of illegal immigrants to cross the US / Mexican border into the San Diego area.
Senor Ortiz was hired by the Border Patrol back in 2001 using a copy of a Chicago man's birth certificate. How he was able to get around the background checks in order to get this position has not been disclosed. At one time, the FBI was responsible for performing the background checks. Now though these checks (if they are done) are being "performed" by subcontractors.
Mr Ortiz seems not to be the only Border Patrol agent who has been smuggling illegals into the country. According to wire taps recordings, Ortiz was working with another agent. These wire taps indicate that these two "Border Agants" were smuggling into the US 30 to 50 illegal immarants into the US at a time!
Border agent said to also be smuggler
Should Americans continue to beleive that the goverment is doing it's job in protecting our borders? Or should the Minuteman Project become something of a more permanent fixture since it is obvious that our goverment:
1) Is incapable of doing the Job
2) Does not care that it is going on
3) Why would it take 4 years for the goverment to discover the fake birth certificate?
How many M-13 and other gang members have these 2 (who knows maybe more) have allowed into the country? How much of the drug trade passed through their sector?

But don't expect many replies.

Those who think this is bad feel like the article speads for itself.

People who approve of "loose" borders hope this incedent will disappear off the radar quickly.

I hope not especially after the "roundup" up the ICE just did that nabbed 528 illegal immigrants in 27 cities many of whom were members of extremely dangerous ganga like M-13

I am realy surprised that this issue has ony received 1 reply.
The idea that the very people that we have working to keep the illegal border crossings from happening are actually being manned by illegal immigarant who are profiting by allowing others to cross.
The other major issue that I found with the story was that it took 4 years for the "background check" to discover that the man's documentation were fraudulent.
If this has been found on this one man, it begs the question of just how many others are now patroling "protecting" the borders have fraudulent documents or other skeletons in their closets.

Note: Wait more than a day before noting lack of input on a thread, especially when that day includes read-only time due to server changes.

1. Subcontractors can't do their job. Also, bureaucracy.
2. Bureaucracy.
3. Bureaucracy.

They care about it, but this is a drop in the bucket that has since been plunged into an olympic-sized pool. Something needs to be done, but that isn't new.
