Have you ever wondered about the significance of numbers in religion? Certain numbers come up over and over; 3, 4, 7, and 12 in particular. These show up not only in modern monotheistic religions, but in ancient polytheistic religions worldwide as well.

Their Significance

3: The Earth, Moon, and Sun

4: The four seasons

7: The 7 "nonfixed" celestial objects visible with the naked eye; Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter. These were thought to be eyes of gods.

12: The twelve constelations

In the first century, the earth had just entered the age of Pisces (the fish), which is the true origin of the ichthus symbol.
