If you are using file sharing software, there is a possibility the software is sharing everything on your pc with the outside world. If your tax return is on your pc or was backed up by the software it may be there. Is this only happening to new internet users? This news story was reported Tuesday on CBS News.

Your social security number and bank account number could be shared information which identity thieves can use to steal identities and/or drain bank accounts. There is a helpful tips link if this happened to someone. Here it is.

So has anyone had this happen to them or are they concerned? I haven't downloaded any file sharing program that I am aware of. I'm just wondering how bad a problem this story is.

Sounds like things couldn't be easier now for identity thieves.

Oh sorry, if my thread needs to be moved, closed, or deleted, then I'll accept that. I just didn't find the other one by searching.
