I Thought About It

I thought about it, and thought
and thought and thought and thought
what if I shouldn’t do it?
but finally decided I ought
what do I need to begin this?
I picked up all the tools
what are the restrictions?
I read through all the rules.
what if nobody likes it?
I thought through several revisions.
what if I run out of funding?
I secured sufficient provisions.
I planned through carefully
every step of the way.
I talked about it to others
till there was nothing left to say.
And in the end,
as you’ve guessed it,
I decided not to do it.
I thought myself right out of it
trying too hard to think through it.

That was unbelievably good. The pace, the rhythm, the mood, the rhyme, completely and totally nailed it, and all the while you've painted a very relatable picture of a thought process I think we've all been through from time to time.

I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've thought myself right out of doing something!

Ha amateurs! I don't need a thought process to not do what I wanted to do, I just do other things until I've completely forgetten the first thing I wanted to do.
