One says it would be "surprising" if it is not discovered on Europa.

That would be my best guess.

That is a pretty safe comment for a scientist to make, I mean roughly 1 trillion years from now, the last star will be born. In about 100 trillion years, the last light will go out, so that makes some time to make that happen

Nobody will be excited when told that Moss grows on Europa.

What we're looking for and hoping for, is Non-Earth life we can converse with.

I hate this obfuscating dance. They already know, well some do, and have known for years. Ohh and I’m not talking aliens.

In all seriousness though... Perhaps. Life can be defined in a few ways.
Intelligent life on Europa? Probably not.
At this point, for me at least, microbial life is not that big a deal. No matter where it is found.
I understand that it has a magnitude of "other" meaningful impacts. That is fine of course.

there's likely pond moss environments galore... but nary a population of Ptery-Dactiles out there (cant ask peewee)

The "thing" with intelligence is that it's a human construct. Created, designed and gauged.
By human definition, atom bombs, fossil fuel consumption and war is par for the course.

You know we are decended from a colony ship full of advertising executives, used car salespeople, hair dressers, telephone sanitizers, etc... The real people that were part of this great computer's operating system are long gone. We are mearly wet malware.

Plenty of NASA video feeds have been saved by collectors that show craft coming and going from Earth, like we're a supplier of something.
