I have no doubt Russia is behind this and will stir up chit all across Africa if it can, With the West preoccupied with Ukraine we now have Niger bubbling up

Have to say with the way Putin is going via his forces hitting grain stores and the like in Ukraine.

Grain that would have gone on to feed a significant proportion of people who hail from the African continent over the coming mouths.

You have to wonder what's going to happen come winter.

Put it this way, somebody better get a hold of Bob Geldof, because by the looks of things another "Live Aid" is apt to be on the cards should Putin keep on weaponising food.

An investigation by the BBC has found just 5 per cent of the money raised by Live Aid and Band Aid actually made it to the victims of famine in Ethiopia. Instead, the millions of dollars of international aid intended to buy food for starving Ethiopians was used by rebel groups to buy weapons.

So now you choose to trust ""BBC"" investigations?

Well, that's handy.

Not that i doubt the veracity of the claim, as large charities seldom tend to reach their intended target audience with much more than token gestures.

Down to the fact that people in power who deal with and receive aid and donations tend to be corrupt to the core.

None of which changes the fact that should Russian forces continue to hit or halt grain intended for Africa it may well bring about famine and loss of life come winter.

I remember reading a report a lot of years ago - unfortunately I don't have a link or supportive evidence - that the two charities with the highest percentage of aid/money to actually reach their intended recipients were Cafod and Oxfam with about 15%.
The rest is paid in bribes etc to government officials and local warlords etc.

That's a frightening statistic.

I think the proxy war is extending to Africa,

The military coup of a couple of days ago has overthrown a democratic elected government, even if seriously flawed and corrupt. France likes to pretend it owns North and Saharan Africa.

This is what happened in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Nationalists and nazis overthrew a Democratically elected government in Ukraine. When the new Poroshenko government came into power in Ukraine he specifically targeted the Ethnic Russian Ukrainians in the east with New rules, new laws, violence, military force and he fully supported (obviously) the Ukrainian Nationalists and nazis who staged the coup that got him Into power.

POROSHENKO was gonna make sure that a pro Russian government never got Democratically elected into Ukraine again no matter what.

This is important to know as it started the war with the Kiev backed forces and nazis and the people of Eastern Ukraine and Donbass, who wanted nothing more then to continue living the same way they had been for generations already.
