You know the ones I'm talking about , in stores? Dollar tree, Aldi , etc still have them up.
They do absolutely fu*king nothing, but it's not about stopping any virus from spreading ( a virus that has never been isolated , never mind that a virus floats in the air for up till 8 hours once released) .
It's 100% about control, and forcing us to submit and forcing us to accept this.
I shop at these stores, I could do elsewhere , like Publix. Oh but Publix now only has Spanish captions when you pay with a card. Ever time I go there it's in Spanish. I will either stop going there or pay cash.
I tried changing tlanguages, but it must have disabled , because the text on the button remained Spanish. The text about was both Spanish/English, but not on the buttons, those were in Spanish.
I have nothing against Spanish, I have Mexican and Cuban friends, but this push to just accept whatever they decide you need to accept is unacceptable.

Sick to death of this useless agenda that they are pushing

I've decided I'm boycotting Dollar tree , done with this #.
Will go to dollar general instead, they don't have the plexiglass.

Nice rant... I was going to say they'll go when the TV says they go, but I settled with first world problems are the best...

They are using them for signs. Some came down in my area but a lot have notices, recalls, and advertisements on them now.

They'll go as soon as they stop systematically stoking fear.

By "they" I mean the coporatists who are directed to establish the 'ground rules' of their work spaces.

The funniest part is that literally everyone has to step to the side and talk around them if you want to be heard. If the cashier is wearing a mask you've got almost no chance of understanding what they're saying. The sheep keep doing it and don't even think about how dumb it is.

Likely around the same time those mask wearing drivers will

Like I said in my rant, it's not about the language/plexiglass, but the agenda they are pushing

You should learn Spanish and then go in there and sneeze a nasty ass hawker onto the glass window and then ask the clerk in soanish to clean it off because it may have a virus in it. 🦠 🤡

Who "They"?

If the health department where you live/shop has rescinded the order to have such shields, then it is up to the stores, and/ or their management to take down the shields.

Maybe the management doesn't want to pay to have those shields removed, considering how tight the economy supposedly is following the pandemic?

Maybe they figure "We paid for these things, we're gonna get some use out of them"?

Or, maybe those shields (and the Spanish-language signage) are more appreciated by the largest segment of the population contributing to those merchants' "bottom line"?

"Serve your market, and your market will pay for your service".

I am 100% behind you on this. It annoys the hell out of me.
Luckily around here, during the Scamdemic it was 100% of businesses, then a year ago maybe 75% and now it seems to be about.....35%?
The ones that keep it the most are of course big box stores/huge corporations. But even a lot of supermarkets have taken them down.
The first to go were the small businesses of course.
There has to be an element of corporate laziness in just leaving them up in places like Home Depot for example.
I always have to step around to hear them better or just get a sense of 'having a conversation'
I do NOT want to feel like I am at some shady pawnshop or metro station while talking to a fellow human being.

This is 100% how they want us to feel... diminished, guilty, herded.
I fully approve this rant. Nonsense in, nonsense out is how we got to this stupid place.

The next one is a bird flu variant, and then it's Marburg. Might as well leave them up.

Plus they stop bad odor and bad breath, I enjoy shopping in certain lawn and garden stores quite a bit more.

Except they don't do anything. I've never once noticed any "bad odor" emanating from a cashier, and if bad breath is an issue at the 4-6 ft distance between you and them there's a serious health issue going on.

But you seem very cooperative and compliant so they did accomplish at least one thing.

I think the plexiglass dividers are here to stay.

With violence and crime on the rise.

With clerks put in harms way every day because police are so underfunded they won't respond.

With DA's that refuse to prosecute theft or minor assault.

Clerks are on the front line of crime and violence.

I think that they are shields from nasty customers who regularly scream at cashiers who control nothing at the store.

And shields them from thieves who openly have stuff stashed and take gum through the check out line.

Crime and violence are out of control in the US and clerks are easy targets.

I think the shields will stay to protect the store staff.

Si yo fuera tú, yo limpiaría inmediatamente el gran escupitajo que lancé en la ventanilla sin querer, por si tiene algún virus.

My work took them all down, even though some of us wanted to keep them. If you don't work close with the public then you might not understand. People are basically gross and rude. Way before Covid was a thing I would have loved the barriers. I've had sick people coughing and hacking my my face, leaving used snot rags on my counter. And lets not forget the leaners. The ones who lean way over the counter and are now in your personal space being creepy and breathy. The DRUNKS you can smell from 4 feet away that look like they are going to puke. Or the ones smoking in your face leaving ash everywhere. Or the ones that wreak like pot. Some just have such bad BO that you want to vomit. People handing you ID's that are black and gritty with dirty from fingers that are also BLACK from dirt & drugs. You wouldn't believe how many people come straight to us after being released from the hospital. If I just got out of the hospital/ER I'd want to go home, clean up and rest. Or angry people who throw things or like to spit on you. There's tons more, but its basically lots of normal non Covid human grossness, that had use using hand sanitizer YEARS before the Rona. Barriers would have been welcomed.

For reference, I work Front Desk at a hotel inside a casino.

A few businesses are taking them down around here. Turns out most of the service staff prefers having them stay. Because spit-talkers, mouth breathers, and people who don't cover sneezes or coughs make things unpleasant.
