What is going on with flag count on ATS?

When I sort by new on my PC I'm taken to the 'maintenance' message page but when I do it on my phone it displays the new threads as it should. However, a lot of threads that are brand new have thousands of flags. An example which I will use is this thread www.abovetopsecret.com... When I sorted by new on my phone earlier today, this thread was second, with 1996 flags. There is no way that thread or any other can garner that many flags in such a short time, not to mention the comment to flag ratio is way off.

And it's not just that thread, multiple others have thousands of flags. Usually, threads on ATS that are doing well and are popular will be in the high double digits, rarely triple digits but never has there ever been a thread with thousands of flags, especially when a thread was just posted.

What is going on?

Transitional period while the site is being updated apparently.

Because of the new updates, 1,000s of new people are flooding the boards. What do you think?

I saw one with over 1,000 flags earlier today and thought "Damn, never seen that many before" and then some posts had a full row of stars plus hundreds more.

Yep, it's the recent maintenance interventions. To get your PC to load the new topic page just delete the browser cache and cookies from the last 24 hours.

The flag thing is obviously a glitch as Darko tries to sort out the coding.

You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs.

Just the flag count?

I lost like 4 posts I posted yesterday morning before the site went down. Wrote them over a period of a couple of hours and none survived the crash.

Many aspects of ATS have been super quirky for me over the last few weeks.

New surprises every time I log on. When I can!

Please have patience while the site is being updated as it may take some time.

We still have members here with millions of stars from the last site upgrade.

Maybe the new owners should reset everyone's star and flag count to zero and just leave the silver and gold outlines on those who already have them.

Exactly that.

The updates and fixes sometimes need time to fully incorporate from what I gather.
In the meantime, patience and common sense should prevail.

IOW --- don't take advantage of the glitches

Funny how most of them seem to be on the political threads.. Have we been throttled all these years.. Today is the first time in a long time that i can load pictures up again..

Maybe that is where members were taking advantage of the glitch.

I'd say it best to accentuate the positive while Darko works on ATS.
An ATS that hasn't had much TLC in the last couple of years or so.

When seen:
Alert staff to glitches.

And yes, I believe the upload gotten some good attention from Darko.
