The NY Attorney General Hosting 'Drag Story Hour' Event For Families With Children

The fight for children continues. Today's story from NYC where the Attorney General... yes, the freaking Attorney General, is spending taxpayer money to host a drag show for kids. The responses to the CBS story / twitter link is pretty entertaining, especially the one I linked below where "opponents" show pictures of these "child friendly events". Yeah, they are child friendly alright.

New York Attorney General Letitia James is hosting a "Drag Story Hour" event in New York City, a move that comes as several GOP-led states seek to prohibit drag performances in front of children.

Families and their children are invited "to join Attorney General James, Drag storytellers, and city and state elected leaders" this Sunday for the drag queen story hour event.

In response, city officials in opposition to the events have considered proposals to strip funding from any school bringing drag queens into its facilities to speak to children.

NYC is spending taxpayer dollars to bring adult drag queens into elementary schools across the city to perform for small children. This is unacceptable and grotesque, and follows a deeply disturbing national pattern," New York City councilwoman Vickie Paladino tweeted after learning how much public funding was going towards drag queen story time events. "Progressives may have no problem with child grooming and sexualization, but I do. This will not happen on my watch. Kids deserve a quality education free from political manipulation and sexual content."

I'm so desensitized from this world and its evil I can't even laugh at it anymore, I just try to avoid it. If you let your kids visit the attorney generals porn show than your a sick parent. New York City schools are failing its children at an increasing rate and our political leaders are waisting resources and money on Drag Shows for kids?

Say what you want about Drag Shows for kids; it still an waist of time and money that could be better spent teaching NYC kids science.

First I will say that I live in the EU, but I'm American. I live here because it's my husband's native country, long story.

About 10 years ago or maybe more, a very famous person who performs in drag here read to kids at a school. I don't remember why, but it did "make sense"...it wasn't about indoctrinating kids or anything. It was "harmless", but it did make the news. Then it never happened again anywhere, not with that same person in drag or anyone else, anywhere else over here.

My husband and I were talking about this what is happening back in the US with there being a huge uproar about drag queens reading to kids and he basically summed it up when he said "is it really necessary for drag queens to read to kids and how many drag queens want to read to kids?".

What is weird about what's going on in the US is why is there now a huge push to have drag queens read to kids? Something is up. They aren't recruiting women who look really masculine and/or dressed like men to come do it, so why have some big push to have kids watch drag queens read books? If I had kids and we happened to run across a drag queen, I wouldn't react and if they asked, I'd just tell them that it's a man who likes to dress up. And if they say "why", I'd say because they think it's fun. That is the extent that I would, if I were a parent, expect that my child would see someone in drag.

It's called roleplaying, normalizing the look and sound of someone who is creating a fictional scenario and then convincing your audience that fiction was the truth all along.

You're right about that, but the only rational explanation for including drag queens in role playing/make believe is to cause confusion... never mind.

I remember when I used to say to people that if I ever have kids I'm going to home school them and they thought it was funny and I was so "quirky". I'm thankful that I don't have kids even though I "miss" the kids I won't have, if that makes sense.

If I had kids out there in the world today...

Curious if people supporting this nonsense would be ok with Burlesque story time? Or maybe porn star story time? Would they allow Hooters girls to read in front of the classroom?

Why does it need to be a drag queen? Why can't a guy just read a story without having to dress up an over sexualized caricature of a woman?
