Well if their craft enters into the airspace of another nation and cannot account for being their plus poses a security risk then my answer would have to be "yes it's ok".

Thanks for the clarification.

Another thing: what's the maximum altitude for it to be considered "airspace"? Where does "airspace" end?

If the balloon was a "security risk" they should have shot it as soon as they saw it. Waiting until the balloon was over the ocean appears to show they weren't that worried about any threat from the balloon.

It was a security risk, but an opportunity as well. They were gathering Intelligence from it as it went across the US. That’s why they let it get as far as they did.

There’s no formal agreement on where it ends. The suggested standards range from 30 km to 160 km.

Not according to the authorities and military ArMaP.

As to the reason for waiting, that's been made clear also.

They obviously were not that worried, but that doesn't mean there was no concern or that a response was not warranted aka downing the thing safely.

More than a few political points being made there. He’s not wrong on all of them, but it comes across as more trying to score points than actual information.

Pretend Leader JOE BIDEN says the Chinese Spy Balloon was NOT a big deal.

Source: www.foxnews.com...

I guess that means we can forget about it and move on. Right?

If you have a viable alternative to moving on let's hear it?

I mean would you like to see the USA nuke china because they happened to send an observation balloon into US airspace, on purpose, or otherwise?

Exactly what kind of response do you have in mind?

As to Joe Biden being a "Pretend Leader" only in the most extreme butthurt maga lunatics twisted melon.

See there is simply no doubt about the fact that Joe is your POTUS.

If you refuse to face the reality of the situation that's your own bag of spanners to contend with I'm afraid.

Chinese spy balloon – live: US fighter jets take down new high-altitude ‘object’ over Alaska

The White House says that Joe Biden ordered that a new high-altitude “object” that appeared in the skies above Alaskan waters to be shot down by US fighters.

John Kirby, NSC Coordinator for Strategic Communications, told a Friday briefing that the object was floating above US territory at 40,000ft and was a “reasonable threat” to the safety of civilian air traffic.

Talking about it on CNN right now.

Serious question...

So, what happens to the missile after it punctures the balloon?

Do they self detonate it over the ocean?

They either detonate when a timer hits zero, or crash and break into a bunch of small pieces.

2.16.2023

After figuring out what happened back on February 4th, President Biden held a briefing today to explain how proud he was to shoot down a big balloon with a very expensive missile. He says it MAY NOT be a China-owned balloon. (He and China have conducted a lot of "business" together.)
