If the Earth's core were to suddenly stop rotating, it would have a number of significant consequences:

The Earth's magnetic field, which is generated by the motion of the liquid iron and nickel in the core, would likely collapse. This would leave the Earth's surface exposed to higher levels of cosmic radiation, potentially affecting satellite communications and power grids.

The cessation of the Earth's magnetic field would also likely cause significant changes in the atmosphere, potentially leading to more severe weather patterns and increased atmospheric erosion.

The process of plate tectonics, which is driven by the convection of the Earth's mantle, would likely come to a halt. This could lead to a cessation of volcanic activity, and the potential build-up of pressure in the Earth's crust.

The loss of the Earth's magnetic field would also have an effect on the climate, as the magnetic field helps to deflect solar wind, which can cause changes in atmospheric circulation and temperature.

The loss of the Earth's magnetic field would also have a catastrophic effect on the life, especially on the marine life as the magnetic field helps to navigate the migratory animals like sea turtles, salmon, tuna, etc.

Please keep in mind that the likelihood of the Earth's core stopping its rotation is extremely low, these are just some possible consequences if it were to happen.

And then i asked what would be the best way to survive such an event:

If the Earth's magnetic field were to collapse, it would be a significant event that would have a number of negative consequences for human civilization. The best way for humans to survive in such a scenario would likely involve taking measures to protect themselves from the increased levels of cosmic radiation that would reach the surface.

Building underground shelters or bunkers would be the best option as they would provide protection from the increased cosmic radiation and solar flares.

Building structures with thick walls that can block radiation, such as lead-lined walls, would also be a good option.

Storing enough food and water to last for several months would be essential, as the collapse of the magnetic field could disrupt the food supply chain.

Having backup generators and other emergency equipment to provide power during a prolonged power outage.

Having a plan for communication and finding a way to stay informed about the situation would be important as the collapse of the magnetic field would likely disrupt telecommunications.

Staying indoors during solar flares or other high-radiation events would also be advisable, as well as avoiding high-altitude locations, where the level of cosmic radiation would be higher.

It's important to note that the collapse of the Earth's magnetic field is a highly unlikely event, and the best way to prepare for such a scenario would be to have a well-stocked emergency kit and a plan in place for dealing with natural disasters and other emergencies.

Some of it's advice seems a bit silly. Like using generators lol.

Interesting that you bring this up. I watched this YouTube video recently that pretty much sounds like it isn't too big a deal.

youtube.com...

But, maybe it's time to build a bunker just in case.

Crazy how AI is replacing qualified human researchers and publishers. Eventually Google will be an autonomous library with its own personality. It will conduct its own surveys, collect data and tell us answers to questions we never thought to ask.

Should try GPT-3 Playground. You might get a more scientific answer than ChatGPT.

I wish everyone would stop and take good look at that sentence.

It makes me feel very uneasy.

Makes me want to crawl back under a rock.

Has anyone ask "IT" if it can hack into anywhere really!

The day they turned on the first computer, this was one of the items on their grand vision board. They never anticipated it would happen in the next century but some expert say that engineering has doubled (2, 4, 8, 16, etc) every decade since the 60s and software will raise that number exponentially when quantum computing goes into effect.

Funny you say that.

The founders of Google wanted to map the human mind. The search engine is actually used to teach AI. That is literally how Google started.

It was seen as a away to fund the research. People buy ads to be seen. That profit propelled it to the giant it is.

That, and I believe they learned how to get good at controlling us.

If this happens, it doesn't seem like it would do much good to build bunkers and find caves because earth's exterior and all the flora, fauna and water would simply die and evaporate in a fairly short matter of time.

Unless there would be some way to get it started again it's just another TEOTWAWKI scenario.

Oh well.

But the bigger question is, will people still learn by hands on and books written by humans?

Lol, I guess I have outgrown my usefulness.

The irony is that computers are in a sense smarter than humans, and humans created the computer.

It just finds and pastes information on the topic you ask it from the internet via google search, then it scans the texts and gives you the most relevant answers.

It seems amazing and magical, but it really isn't. It's hard for me to actually call it artifical intelligence.

I'll call it really good programming code.

If you want scary go watch the movie MEGAN. All things considered that level of robotics is probably 10 to 20 years away at most. We got the parts. Just need the processor now.

That’s simplifying it way too much. It’s a language model. Basically it’s job is to sounds like a human is answering you. It doesn’t have the capability to search google. It prioritizes sounding like it’s right over actually being right. When you ask it a question it gives you the best sounding answer.

That being said, it’s actually a powerful tool. If you use it correctly. Unprecedented if you ask me.

Artificial Intelligence needs to be supervised, it will straight-up lie to your face. If companies think they can use it to generate endless news content without supervision, that would lower the quality of their news,

The Earth's core is now spinning at the same rate as the crust. It has not stopped spinning. To get this kind of disaster would require a different phenomenon.

the core spin rate might be acted upon by the Galactic Current Sheet positive or negative flip...it will take Earth some 200 years to pass through this thin Galactic sheet of ionized particles (the solar System is heading Northward towards the upper side of the Galaxy disc shape

it seems to me the magnetic core would realign while passing through the changing polarity of that external 'Current Sheet

are you now considering why they launched 2 voyagers all those years ago ?

It has to be able to do an internet search in order to retrieve the answers to your questions. Where else is it going to get the information? If I type a question into google, it brings me the most relevant answers and links.

If I made a program to sound like a human speaking that did google searches when asked a question, then filled in the blanks on a pre-made template of verbal response, thats what it would be. It would seem like an artificial intelligence talking to you, giving you the answer to your question while sounding like a human in fluent english.

I just read an article addressing the core stopping, and evidently it already has and is in the process of going the opposite way. I guess it happens every so often, but the North pole is still at the North pole area and the same for the south pole I guess.

It should start spinning the other way pretty soon according to the article. The article does state there is a minimal amount of things that are changed and people rarely notice the difference except in a few spots. Now this is different than a pole reversal by a long shot I guess. The article I read was at a geological site, and only read it about two weeks ago.

It may have some effects on weather patterns and intensities of storms and it is somehow related to earthquakes of a certain kind but that is about all it said it effect. What they are blaming on climate change relationship to storms and weather could be associated with the cores reversal it sounds like...

Actually stopped spinning means it has equalized with the rotation of the mantle....had to edit to add this since I figured that some may not understand this. It is now going to spin slower than the mantle, so it is considered reversing because it is not spinning as fast as the earth is...basically going backwards from the rotation. got an article to explain it.
