The problem there is there is just as much division among puerto ricans as to what their islands destiny would be. So many of my friends growing up were rican. It may be an evenly split opinion. Thats what votes are for i guess.

You are absolutely correct.

There has always been a tug of war over this issue. Many opinions, some valid, some steeped in politi-think.

Fortunately, none that I am aware of thought of it as a casual "political" decision, and all seemed to recognize it as a one-way street.

I actually thought this thread was about Washington DC being made into a state again.

Doesn’t failing in the senate depend on how many Republicans have been caught on camera with children?

Isn’t it a territory now like Guam?
It makes me wonder, if Puerto Rico became the 51st state, what about Guam?
After all, it’s not in The Americas.

My gut tells me it’s a bad idea.
