Exactly! Glad you can see the never ending meddling of the 'west' in eastern Europe post 1991. Russia had to act. Not supporting them in any way, yet from their perspective, you said it best

and just give Russia a free hand in invading sovereign nations and stealing territory? The UN charter allows a nation that is under attack to respond, with allies if need be. Ukraine appropriately asked for assistance and it was granted.
