All of the following have been found in contempt of congress and refused to answer congressional subpoenas for documents and served no jail time:

Henry Kissinger
Janet Reno
Harriet Miers
Joshua Bolton
Eric Holder
Lois Lerner
Bryan Pagliano
Bill Barr
Chad Wolf

If you defend Bannon going to jail you are in favor of a political witch hunt that only prosecuted Conservatives but let’s off the leftists for the same crime. Remember that but then again the left doesn’t care at all about “equal justice under the law”

Well a quick search shows the last two did not face the same consequences because for Wolf the WH under Trump stated they would not bring criminal charges against him and in Barr’s case congress only had the power to charge him if they at the time impeaching Trump. They were not, therefore they had no authority to do so. I'll find the others and get back to you.

ETA: Pagliano-Congress voted and did not refer him for criminal charges. Lerner- the DOJ found she did not waive her rights. Holder-Claimed executive privilege and his own department did not charge him.

You made my point exactly. All these people who weren’t criminally charged for “ contempt of congress” whatever the F that means are not Trump people. Barr as we all know was not a trump loyalist. Bannon was prosecuted because he was a trump loyalist and dared to speak truth to the swamp.

And by the way what the hell is “contempt of congress” anyway? Last time I checked they aren’t the judicial branch of the government and they are the LEGISLATIVE branch of the government and they ARENT A LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY. They aren’t a court of law and they can’t issue warrants or force people testify for a committee!

Aren’t they supposed to be writing laws and passing bills?

How does the legislative branch have the authority to send a citizen to jail?

What a joke this government has become.

Where in the constitution does the legislative branch get the authority to subpoena private citizens for a criminal investigation from a Kangaroo court of 80% partisan democrats and 2 RINO sellouts?

Amazing how this all lines up with mid-terms....

Not really amazing.

Just their last desperation attempt before they get S# canned next month.

What? Barr was too a loyalist, until Trump went even too crazy for him. Wolf too. He had just nominated him to be the permanent Secretary of Homeland Security after Trump ignored the normal chain of command to install him as the acting Secretary. Trump pulled that nomination after Wolf criticized him after Jan 6. They were all loyalists, but you know Trump, if anyone dares to challenge his opinion, they are suddenly "deep state" operatives and or someone he barely knows but heard bad things about.

This can help you familiarize yourself about how and why they have subpoena power.

A Guide To Rules,Precidents and Procedures pdf

And in the Hillary investigation over 70 subpoenas were served. That was GOP lead, yes?

I wonder if Giselle Maxwell is expecting a pardon in 1 1/2 years from Biden for keeping her black book hidden?

Gotta love those magic pens..

If you have proof of ties between Epstein/Maxwell and Joe Biden, post it.

Biden Island is next to Epsteins and has a submarine dock in it. Epstein's didn't.
A convicted sex trafficker was operating a submarine.
Probably just all a coincidence.
We will probably figure out in the future that Epstein isn't even the bad guy. He was into super nerdy stuff.
I wouldn't hitch your cart to Biden so quickly, even though you feel compelled to join a fake group.

This sets a precedent, moving forward anyone who refuses to testify before Congress can be indicted. “Be careful what you wish for” seems appropriate here Dems and Rhino’s.

Since 1975, about 20 people have been charged with contempt of Congress. Three of whom were prosecuted.

So, it's not a precedent.

Why is the title former Trump aide? Maybe it should read Radio talk Show Host convicted of BS Crime?

The only reason they did this is so they can indict Trump when the 1/6 committee hands out a subpoena. For the first time in the history of our country the government is locking up political opponents.

He will do this time like a good boy and be out but ask yourself...what did he stop from happening? Do you really think if he testified they would have gotten information.

When are some of you going to realize this is not about Donald Trump but the erosion of your rights?

The only question know is when the indictment comes down and I am still thinking Thanksgiving.

I suppose they are mentioning him in regard to his greatest and most public achievement. I mean, the media don't call Donald Trump a cancelled game show host, they refer to his Presidency.

Steve Bannon has been sentenced to four months in prison and a $6500 fine in his contempt of Congress case.

The sentence is pending appeal.

So if Bannon can continue to drag this out for another 2.5 years, he may be banking on another Presidential pardon to save him from prison.

We're just going to have to leave America, and find some other land where we can settle with less of a fight, if we do not succeed in throwing that illegal and unconstitutional junta called "Congress" off our backs.

LOL

Congress unconstitutional!

That's funny.

Rita Lavelle, an EPA official, was convicted for lying to Congress in the early 1980's and sentenced to 6 months in prison, 5 years probation thereafter, and a fine of $10,000.

I have zero proof of Biden having a relationship with either of them.
There is however, a great deal of evidence linking these people to powerful politicians in the democrat party.
(And republican)
That makes a senile Biden who will be out of office after the next election the perfect guy to pardon Maxwell for her cooperation in hiding her clients identities.

yeah but

i can't help thinking that would be right up

hunter's alley, tho.

If you are going to cite house rules for the legitimacy of the J6 committee giving supoenas then you also have to look at the authorization the house passed that created the committee and the fact that pelosi and the dems violated their own rules creating the committte there by making these suponeas null and void for procedural violations

The authorizing resolution for the committee says five out of the 13 shall be appointed after consultation with the minority leader. Well, she didn’t take any of them. So that’s zero out of 13. She did appoint two nominal Republicans. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, who are virally anti-Trump.

But they weren’t appointed by the Republican caucus and therefore they are not reflective of the Republican party. The reason this is significant is the way the committee does its business, it has to have a consultation with the ranking minority members

And there isn’t one! It has to give the ranking minority member the ability to hire counsel to be a counterpoint in the questioning of witnesses. There isn’t one. That counsel is supposed to be given equal time according to the House rules and long-standing precedent.

And as we saw Adam Schiff do in the Ukraine impeachment, he would selectively leak distorted versions of what was said behind closed doors in order to try and build a narrative that wasn’t true.

These aren’t technicalities. There is a good reason for 230 years that we’ve had bi-partisanship on committees. That’s how we protect against hyper-partisan witchhunts.

There is a good reason why Congress doesn’t have law enforcement capability. Because it’s politicized by definition and they are acting as judge , jury and executioner
