One thing to take from that video is that Putin is not bluffing.

Putin's got to do something or the occupied territories will be taken back by Ukraine. Russia is outnumbered 8/1 in the Karkhov offensive. Game over with that numbers game.

The annexation idea is pretty much the only way to go. Any attack on those territories will be a declaration of war on Russia. Fill the territories with Iskander's and masses of military like in Kaliningrad.

But he hasn't got 'masses of military'....hence his desperate tactics and once again his treat of first strike nuclear weapons in an attempt to threaten and bully.
This whole campaign is going tits up for him and the sooner the Russian people do something about him the better.....for ALL of us.

The crimeans and Eastern Ukrainians want to be part of Russia, deal with it.

That murderous scum bag zelenskyy is the only one standing in the way of it.

He needs to be assassinated as soon as possible.

You think more iskanders and russian conscrjpts are going to change the outcome?

Or that any country other than russia will consider the Ukrainian territories as russian any more than if putin had just said 'abracadabra, this is now part of russia' and waved a magic wand?

Anyway, sorry if I strayed a bit.

Its all truth and needs to be reiterated over and over... and only the truly ignorant cant see the clear parallels.

The axiom of our current time, whatever ruZZia says, you can assume the exact opposite is reality.

Russia can raise two million army plenty of reserves etc plenty of men of that age yet for sure it's not instant and will take months to get them fit and trained up. I guess Ukraine has that time to take back occupied territories. Then too late for Russia hence the nuke option. Frightening stuff. Escalation was always going to be inevitable if Putin isn't getting things going his way. Winter is here soon too. Hopefully not a low yield nuke accompanying it.

Says putin anyway.

But Ukrainian matters are none of putin's business.

Because Ukraine is not part of russia

“After the announcement of partial mobilization, all tickets for flights from Moscow to Istanbul and Yerevan were sold out in a few minutes”

The russian stock market should be fun for the rest of the week too.

Can't even blame it on westerners this time, they aren't allowed to sell russian stock holdings anymore

I'm just considering it from a Russian point of view! What else can they do bar retreating back to their borders? It's do this or retreat. Do you honestly think Putin is going to retreat that easily?

what I've learnt living on the English channel and studying the movement of people before the big something is always watch where the rich send their kids then where the fleeing middle classes f?*ck off to and by the time we see the poor moving on foot or in boats its already to late to stop what's incoming..

we've passed some big markers awhile ago we're now just seeing it hit societies wider consciousness..

i guess this shows the clock counting down if those with the bunkers start to flee..

Ah, I frequently try to do that myself.

But found that game theory only works when all are rational players. putin is no longer a rational player.

All this does is delay the inevitable, he'll still have to make the nuke or retreat decision, and the nuke option guarantees the end of russia forever.

While a rational player would retreat immediately when checked like this, putin seems determined to force his own check-mate.

If that's the case then the question arises why is he escalating?

From here he can only back down (and most likely be retired) or take it all the way.

What else is there?

Putin's latest move won't address Russia's self-inflicted strategic catastrophe. The corruption, incompetence, and other conditions undermining Russia's war effort will remain in Ukraine. Nor will a limited call-up of former and current military personnel address Russia's dwelling influence in Central Asia. Also, China's increasing leverage over Russia and the possible temptation to invade Siberia are unchanged.

Moreover, on that basis, the indicators are Putin will employ nuclear weapons in Ukraine and Armenia. The less likely alternative is China invading Siberia under the guise of liberation.
