Oregon Fire Department crews are responding to an incident at the BP refinery on Cedar Point Road Tuesday evening.

Large amounts of black smoke, flames and burnoff have been seen coming from the area.

Lucas County Regional Dispatch confirmed that EMS responded to the scene and to reports of injuries. Dispatch was unable to say how many people were potentially hurt or how serious the injuries may be.

Not much else at this time.

This refinery produces about 160000 barrels per day.

Probably just coincidence....probably

Also surely not related....

Pssst, need to clarify for folks this is in the Midwest -- Oregon, OH, not Oregon, the state on the west coast.

Sucks for California. Their gas prices are about to go up another $2 per gallon.

But they deserve it.

Good catch.

But I'm sure CA, will still raise prices.

This is my home town. No conspiracy angle here. The refinery has had accidents in the past and will in the future. This one just happened to be bad enough to injure 2 people.

Thank God you said something. I found Ceder Point Oregon way far away from any refinery.

Looking for it is kicking my A$$.

Regardless, I'm sure as death and taxes prices will go up again.

Rest In Peace and prayers.

Gas prices increased Wednesday after declining for 99 days straight, with the national average price for regular gas now $3.68 a gallon.

Prices increased by seven-tenths of a cent after falling for 99 days, according to The New York Times.

The average cost is still down from the all time high of $5.01 in mid-June, according to the American Automobile Association.
