So they should just have let them be defrauded? Maybe let them start a few more funds to do the same? I understand people can be dumb enough to turn over their hard earned money and get scammed, but doesn't mean it's right and it should be ignored.

If only politicians were held to the same standard eh?

Maybe it's (D)ifferent?

Also, you all may want to actually read how this happened.

Kolfage, whose idea it was, had told prospective donors he would 'not take a penny' and raised about 25 million dollars. The charges that were pending Bannon were dismissed. Kolfage made a plea deal.

This was not even Bannons idea but watch how the media plays it...

Today

According to the indictment, Bannon promised donors that all their money would go toward the wall, but concealed his role in diverting hundreds of thousands of dollars to the drive's chief executive, who had promised to take no salary.

Prosecutors said Kolfage told prospective donors he would "not take a penny" as he raised more than $25 million, yet took more than $350,000 and spent money on a boat, a luxury SUV, a golf cart, jewelry and cosmetic surgery, among other expenses.

So now after the charges were dropped in Federal District court ANOTHER court wants to try the case and has him arrested.

This quote sums it up for all of you....

"On the very day the mayor of this city has a delegation down on the border, they're persecuting people here (for trying to) stop them at the border," Bannon said outside Bragg's office, alluding to a recent trip by city officials to Texas. "This is all about 60 days," Bannon added, apparently referring to the November elections and imputing a political motive to the timing of the indictment.

They are trying to convict on something that was already throw out....no real lawyer would ever take that case.

If that is case, arrest every minister in the country because the money sent to them sure as hell was not used to get them in heaven.

Is there any evidence that Bannon knew what the other guy was doing or that Bannon himself took money for himself?

Mark this date down. We totally agree on that.

I agree as well...and take away the tax exemption from churches. The pastors drive a Porsche and parishioners drive junkers.

Here's some snippets from the indictment which I'll link to.

Bannon, and others, caused WeBuildTheWall, Inc. to transfer hundreds of thousands of dollars to various third-party entities, including entities controlled by Bannon and others, which would then transfer a portion of the money received to Unindicted Co- Conspirator 1.

Bannon, and others, in furtherance of the conspiracy, agreed to use Unindicted Co-Conspirator Entity 1 to accept money from WeBuildTheWall, Inc., and to use a portion of that money to pay Unindicted Co-Conspirator 1. On or about January 11, 2019, Bannon was informed in a text message from Unindicted Co-Conspirator 2 that Unindicted Co- Conspirator 1 would be stating publicly that he would not be taking a penny from the donations. Bannon responded “[Unindicted Co-Conspirator Entity 1] can pay him.” On or about January 15, 2019, Bannon wrote in a text message to Unindicted Co-Conspirator 2 that there would be “[n]o deals I don’t approve; and I pay [Unindicted Co-Conspirator 1] so what’s to worry.” On or about January 18, Bannon wrote an email to Unindicted Co-Conspirator 2 clarifying that “You want $100k to [Unindicted Co-Conspirator 1.

Bannon Indictment

And although there may be debate, Bannon did accept a pardon on federal charges. Might just be me, but I believe pardons are asked for and given when people are guilty of a crime.

That's no lie. There's a big Baptist church here (not quite a mega-church) where the pastor drives a Corvette, and he gets a new one every two years. I can't understand why anyone would give them money!

I have not read anything where Bannon personally profited from this. There is talk about a salary for someone, a CEO,but...it is a charity. The other guy convicted definitely should have and I remember his case. Dirtbag but...there is always money shifted around. How about arresting some of hte congresspeople paying their family and boyfriends millions? When they do they pay a fine and keep running for office.

Clinton Foundation averages 6-7 million a year in salaries...plus they were never indicted on the donations they got. It is not a two way street.

I'm not shedding a single tear over this POS or his followers. But I doubt they think how Bannon lied to them and defrauded them is a "nothing burger".

Too bad you don't have the same gusto with your own party...

Theres a couple things happening here.

Looks like guy that took the plea was raking in some cash and copped to it.

If there is proof that bannon took pay, that's pretty damning as hes said numerous times he wasnt.

Then theres the nature of a non profit. People who work can still take a salary.

Indicted 3 times, and still bending over telling the DOJ and Democrats what to kiss, as he leaves the courtroom each time.

Oh the horrors they scream, but when their own party does things 10x worst...crickets... lol

The vast majority of the Conservatives here don't give a crap about Bannon other than to point out the hypocrisy and double standards the left does as a norm in just about every case dealing with a Conservative that just being a Conservative makes them guilty.

Ah, that's what's going on here. The guy who actually stole the money copped a plea, so now they're trying to shift blame onto Bannon. Is there any evidence that Bannon actually profited?

---

If we ever see any kind of real justice reform in this country, one of the things that it will have to involve is revisiting plea deals, to determine if they actually served the interests of justice. And if it turns out they didn't then the original charges need to be re-instated, statutes of limitations be damned.

That's the other major part: There are many, many cases (mostly in the federal courts) where crimes have absurdly short SoLs, specifically as a way to shield people from any real accountability. When they went after pedophilic priests, many jurisdictions did in fact suspend the SoLs for those crimes, so that decades-old cases could be pursued. Thus, there is precedent to do that for other crimes.

This too will quickly become a nothing-burger

Tell that to Bannon's victims. Tell that to the MAGA folks that donated their hard earned money for a border wall that they believed in, so that Steve Bannon could eat lobster and caviar from a yacht in the Bahamas.

think of all the poor bastards that donated to biden's presidential campaign
and more importantly, those who didn't.

Please get your facts straight. Charges were not dismissed on the Federal level. Trump pardoned him. There's a huge difference.

from the looks of that, the guy who got paid, is squealing and won't get any time, but Bannon, who paid him, will if found guilty.

I'm sure as long as Trump folks are dinged BAMN it's all good.

And as usual, if folks broke the law, arrest them. But only if they are republicans. (AMIRITE)

Uh nope because I responded in your other thread regarding a Dem who broke the law that he should be fully punished for his crime. I believe I also mentioned he wasted his life away now.

So, if the jury finds Bannon or that other Dem guy guilty of a crime. Then they should get the applicable punishment.

If a court of law finds someone to be guilty of a crime, then so be it. I don't know these people, I don't worship these people.
