You can print money, but you cant print water .

This article from foreignaffairs.com really make me think, how can China resolve the water problem , and also what are all the implications to rest of the World if there would come major water problem that Chinese cant fix . Would water problem make China more or less agressive in foreign relations ? There are quite many mouths to feed in China, so if we theorize they could not produce enough food on their own farms, they would have to rely what they can buy from other countrys ....

So much products are made in China, so it`s safe to say that whole World would get hurt if they got in deep trouble with the water issue.

China’s Growing Water Crisis

Also this The Corbett Report article includes China & water related writings.

Droughts, Cloud Seeding and The Coming Water Wars

China consumes ten billion barrels of water per day =1192404711960 litres

Would this issue actually push Chinese to attack other countrys, to get more farmland , to feed it`s hungry mouths ? ( Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures )

I am not sure what to think, the issue is complex and big .They do have water projects going on there, but i dont know how much help are coming from those.

Need: Food

Water=Food

Money=Water

War destroys Water by destroying land, ergo, war is counter-productive to goal.

Aggression causes resistance. Resistance leads to Conflict. Conflict leads to War. War dedtroys Water, which is counter-productive to goal.

Water is everyone's Achilles heel.

There's a common misconception that it's infinite and will return through its own natural cycle. While it's true that water will remain on earth, the question is location and in what form.

The problem is we move water outside of its immediate biome. This can dry areas by lowering the water tables, and when that happens vegetation will die out and the root structure will leave making the soil harder to hold moisture. These areas can go through desertification.

The other problem is water disposal. Some areas send waste water to the ocean where it becomes salt water.

Look at any populated region of the world and they're likely experiencing some, all, or more of the above issues. Very few places have sound water policy because of the belief it's unlimited without thoughtful interaction.

There will be water wars soon.

Good points, and it do feel like wars will come . Yeeh i never thought we could not have water....i guess it's misconception .

They make water from air products also now days, like this :

watergen

But i doubt that could give enough for farming puroposes..

I never thought the water disposal thing, hmm.....

If they cannot create more water for the people, then they will need to reduce the number of people needing water.

Perhaps they will being "dehydrating" some of their people to return their water, as a "State resource ", back to the State?

That dehydrating thing.....sounds similar as soylent green, but only as to get the water....yikes.

Who in the region is China going to attack, that doesn't already have water and food problems? Russia? Popcorn ready if they do.

Would be more concerned about China getting friendlier with Canada. Which is why the US needs to establish a non grata policy for any Chinese forces south of the 55th parallel.

Well maybe not yet, but Trudeau is determined to build he`s dream land as...

I have no idea about Chinas neighbour countrys related to water/food situation now....Russia has water , but is run by mad vlad with nuclear weapons so i doubt going up North would be easy peacy

Water from the air poses its own set of issues, but at the end of the day there isn't nearly enough.

But most water is going to come from rivers (typically mountain snow melt and rain runoff) and the water table.

Many countries share the same water sources with one or a few having first dibs.

As population increases, increased food sourcing strains and shakeup, and different forms of manufacturing, we're going to see all this play out in the next decade IMO. It will be world wide.

One fast solution would be clean, cheap, and vast energy sources for desalination. This would essentially solve the problem of done to scale.

China is working on damming rivers in Tibet, which would deprive India of fresh water.

www.bloomberg.com...

A growing source of tension in the Himalayas is China’s plan to dam key waters before they reach India, leaving that country (and Bangladesh) the losers. As the Indian strategic analyst Brahma Chellaney puts it, “China’s territorial aggrandizement in the South China Sea and the Himalayas … has been accompanied by stealthier efforts to appropriate water resources in transnational river basins.”

I don't think India is going to sit back and not react...

How does the 3G dam go from risk of over flowing to being bone dry in only a few months?

Also my main concern about this drought is the brown rat population. With no food in the fields for it to feed on it will migrate to other areas of the world spreading the plague outside of China. With all the people in Europe at very real risk of another 14th century disaster taking place.

Every day nuclear plant around the world warm up the oceans that creates more water vapor than there would be if humanity was not heating the ocean. This is a by product but badly designed. Resulting in more rain than would otherwise happen.

If humanity did this controlled and desalted water then fresh water does not come from rain but is a question on how much uranium you will use to create water thru nuclear plants. If fusion ever comes this will increase how much salt water can be processed since it is more effective than fission.

Water and food supply could already have been fixed but economic systems are in the way and will make sure that close to abundance never happens.

I have learned a lot about China from these two guys who lived there for over 10years,have Chinese wives but have now left China and can speak freely-They just did a good vid about the water crisis/drought-It does have other topics in as well but its worth a watch

They talk about how the drought has stopped so much hydro electric power that they are using far more coal(feedback loop).

How the weather/temperature display screens in the cities are rigged so it never shows anything higher than 39degrees(which is when the gov says its too hot to work)-even though temperatures have been hitting the mid 40's

And this one is interesting-They talk about a Chinese cultural/philosopical thing dating back to ancient China called "the mandate of heaven."
In simple terms if huge natural disasters occur, they are blamed on Heaven being dissaproving of the ruler of China.
A disaster signifies the mandate/support of heaven being taken away from the ruler.
This is still believed in China by many, and for that reason the government always covers up or downplays any and all natural disasters, like the recent drought-to stop people having subversive thoughts!

This water crisis IMO could destroy China as it exists today.Another two years of droughts this bad and its game over-unless they can steal someone elses country of course..

But I have feeling many countries will be in a similar position before long.
We are at a highly dangerous point in history.

I noticed that Pakistan is flooding, which means the monsoon is dumping all the rain on the western side of the mountains. Any change in the monsoon will cause trouble in India as well. The Yangtse river is looking like it is hardly navigable at the moment. Then a few months back it looked like the three gorges dam was going to fail with all the water behind it.. and now the temps are hitting 50 degrees in many parts of china. It's all gone crazy. I don't think China will go for a land grab, they will do what they have historically done and consolidate within controllable borders. It's all about the ruling class staying the ruling class.

Yeeh desalination sounds like good idea, since the planet is covered by oceans .

I am lucky to not had any drought this Year here , infact i never remember having drought . It`s been raining quite a lot some days....hmm I may be the lucky winner of this wheel of fortune
