Yeah,

Will be interesting to see both of them find out what fighting a real military turns out for them.

Just being realistic. Russia can barely mount an offensive in the Ukraine let alone take on the US Military. China can't fight. They haven't fought against a modern military. I don't think it will go like they think it will go.

Russia's war in Ukraine and US war in Afhanistan don't really reflect their overall military strength, they have reasons to limit the wars in a controllable scale.

Russia's not doing too well in its current war with Ukraine. China is probably realising, based on Russian military failure, that any attempt to invade Taiwan would be likely to fail, or be at such a high cost that it would threaten China's stability.

I am confident that Taiwan will still be around, democratic and thriving in a couple of decades. Not so sure if the same will apply to both Russia and China.

Well unless China and Russia decide to start chucking nukes out the pram they are apt to get their arses handed to them in any sort of conventional conflict with NATO or US forces.

Russia has taken a land area from Ukraine roughly the size of England. That's a fair chunk of land to add to the empire plus they are keeping NATO from the all important western border. Not being a fan member here for Russia, just stating the a land the size of England is not doing too bad in military terms

The size of the Russian border with NATO nations is about to double once Sweden and Finland join so there is also that to consider.

I don't think Vladimir saw that one coming with his invasion of Ukraine or the fact that they refused to capitulate.

He can't. He has almost nothing to give them.

Here's a thought: USA? 300-500 yrs developing. Russia? Couple or 1,000 yrs of Gov.

China? 5,000 ( thousand) yrs of Gov, med, n armies.

Do you really...really think China needs anything from Russia?

They need them to go away...they can wait.

Totally agree Andy with the NATO borders increasing. But that is temporary and nations can escape from NATO at some point in time as well as join if they desire and are coaxed into it by influences at some point in the future.

Yet that border matters little compared to Ukraine being taken into NATO. Russia will pay the price with borders and manpower even if it become millions of dead.

I believe in Putin's eyes and others in his circle, that is a price worth paying.

Putin seems to have achieved the opposite of what he was trying to accomplish.

I don't think they want to escape ufoorbhunter.

After all NATO is a defensive organization whose very reason for existence was to stop and quell the expansion of the USSR any further into Europe.

If anything NATO is stronger today and more united in their efforts than in previous decades gone by, they are sitting up and taking notice put it that way.

Look at how many former Warsaw pact nations are now NATO members?

And the reason why, well that seems to be because they fear Russian expansion into their countries, thus becoming once again satellite nations of Russia and part of the USSR.

Unless cooler heads prevail or someone steps up and shoots Putin in the head(which could make things worse) i strongly suspect you might not be too far off the mark.

Seems to me Ukraine is apt to become Russia's Vietnam war of sorts.

Its not one they can win in the end realistically because the majority of the Ukrainian population simply don't want them to be there, and all those dead bodies coming back home cannot be swept under the carpet forever.

Totally awesome points mate. See it basically the same views. Going to interesting the next phases going through winter with Putin capable of swiching the lights and heating out in much of Europe if he sees it fit and takes the conflict to the next level of economic destruction of western Europe. Interesting times and viewed as an outsider, horrific crazy yet fairly interesting to view how far Putin will go, China too, to set things right in their minds.

When dealing with China and Russia two Moscow BBQ importer businessmen I met in a bar once advised us in the West to drop any of our views when dealing with these countries. They advised that us westerners will never understand them. That they think differently and can be easily upset to the point of war just by simple actions of being undiplomatic in their view. Nuland and Pelosi this week come to mind

Its crazy really.

Now that you mention winter all the same, the winter war fought in the last century should give Russia pause for thought where the continued occupation of Ukraine is concerned come December.

Considering the number of troops that froze in place and died in the snow in the last century on both sides.

Or the poor unlucky bastards who came home with lost limbs, fingers, toes, ears, eyelids, and noses, down to frostbite.

Given the debacle, Russia has made thus far with their invasion, and the fact that they seemingly cannot maintain their overstretched supply lines in summer worth a darn, you have to wonder how ill-prepared they will be where appropriate winter supplies and equipment are concerned.

Gog and Magog

Pestilence/plague war famine death

The first horseman rides on a white horse (Heroin or
Fentanyl) carries a bow, and is given a crown. He rides
forward to conquer the earth by invoking pestilence, Antichrist.

The second horseman carries a sword and rides a red horse
and brings war to all the nations. Conflict and strife.

The third Horseman a food-merchant with scales riding upon
a black horse symbolizes Famine.

Finally the fourth Horseman last in the order yet all riding at once.
He rides the pale horse and he is death. And hell follows with him.

This is the picture painted as they ride.

"They were given authority over a quarter of the earth, to kill with
sword, famine, and plague, and by means of the beasts of the earth."

True mate come winter yes the Ruskies going to have an issue or two holding down the occupied territories plus stay warm.

What's particularly interesting to me as the campaign develops is the massive movement of Ukrainians out of Ukraine.

Russia mastered this towards the end of WW2 and in its after years when it more or less eliminated the ancient German populations of central eastern Europe. This was until recently the largest migration of people.

Now they are doing exactly the same with the Ukranian population. The figures speak for themselves as Ukraine's population is fleeing like crazy and dropping like a stone.

One year Germans, this year Ukrainians. Ethnic cleansing at its finest something Russia is extremely good at and a master plan looks in the works.

Nope.

I think you may find the fantasy is your own.

That's not how any sort of full-blown nuclear exchange would transpire at all and only someone really silly would imagine so.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization aka NATO comprises 30 member states, 28 European and 2 North American, its a team effort son and their armed forces train together so as to act as one.

Have to ask also, to which "state" do you refer?

Russia's not doing too well in its current war with Ukraine

Judging by the all propaganda photo ops that Volodymyr Zelenskyy had being doing. It seems the opposite.

Its Ukraine that hasn't being doing to well in its current war with Russia.
