A group of truckers continued to halt cargo traffic at the Port of Oakland on Wednesday deepening concerns over major supply chain disruptions at one of the country’s largest ports and a key hub for global commerce.

The protest spilled into its third day on Wednesday after escalating to a near complete shutdown of port activity the day before, and port officials were signaling that the main terminal likely would be shuttered once again on Thursday.

This one slipped my radar. Perhaps by the threat of train strikes.

Things are really heating up in the supply chain arena and the "mid-term" variant wont help these matters.

As many of you know, Im of the opinion that this is somewhat orchestrated and will culminate in the fall especially harvest time.

At nearly a century old, the Port of Oakland is one of the top three gateways on the West Coast and it handles virtually all of Northern California’s containerized imports and exports.

More power to them.
Let's hope 'the clients' understand.

This is for freedom of operation and autonomy , not about just on time service or cost cutting.

Maybe we shouldn't be screwing with the logistics in a post retail world?
Just a thought, most stores would be out of supplies in two days if the trucks stopped... So maybe we should let them work?

There aren't going to be any mid terms IMO.

I agree.

However instead of a decentralized economy, the PTB seem to be going to great lengths to centralize everything.

Thinking about that paints a very grim future.

Government will nationalize the ports, effectively controlling the means of production.

I think a few industries are about to get nationalized. When that happens...be ready man cause it won't be cool.

I remember when the Canadians were first allowed to run in the US in the early 80’s. Sure were a lot of trucks worked over with 12 gauges. Seems deregulation and some union busting happen around then as well…

Alot of those far left don't understand what they will be facing. Same with those on the far right. Same as the people in charge.

You likely watched the TV show Mov'in on as well. lol What's up vet?
Assuming you're a driver.

You know how bad the mix is getting out there now days?
Last figure I heard was something like 80 million trucks on
the road. And it can only be more now. Now you take all the
fuel prices and blend that with so many different races that
really have a hard time communicating with each other. Some just
completely belligerent all the time. Then you bottleneck that
on the road heavy traffic in the summer heat. Or some dock or
port some where? Damn straight you're looking at a volatile
situation not just sometimes but often. Sometimes it's hilarious
other times it's not.
edit on 20-7-2022 by Randyvine2 because: (no reason given)

One paranoid person in Washington DC caused a severe Baby Food shortage. There is something very wrong with how our supply-chain is structured.
