Why don't the West Coast mayors clean up their towns/cities instead of letting things get worse?

It isn't just the cities on the coasts. Milwaukee is on pace for a 25% increase in homicides over record breaking 2021. I guess you can call this embracing wokeness and not arresting law breakers, the majority of which belong to a certain ethnicity. I wonder how out of hand things will get before people say enough.

You might want to tell Portlandians that they don't live on the west coast.

The " Left Coast " is where People who have Self Loathing and the Loss of Embracing Life itself go to Finally and Miserably Do US All a Favor and Finally Leave the Planet .

So, which one of you actually lived, grew up on the west coast?

Which one of you lived, grew up in the west coast culture?

Every state/location has their "areas".

What difference does it make 😀

The west coast culture.

If you didn't grow up there -- why would you understand it?

It matters because we are constantly told that it's what we all need to be emulating.

Who is "we"?

And who says "we" need to be emulating the west coast?

Why, our so-called elites who live on the coasts. The very ones who dub it flyover, as in fly over it to get to the only places worth living.

The implication being if those are the places worth living, then they are the places we need to be.

However, you contradict yourself. If we're not to emulate them, then why so touchy about calling them third world crapholes?

Why?

They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They don't want to abandon the liberal policies that they love, even though those policies are responsible for the condition their cities are in. In order to fix the problem, they have to basically become conservative, embrace conservative policies, and get eaten by their own kind for turning traitor to the liberal agenda.

So, they just keep running their little part of the world into the ground while their citizens get tired of living in a third world #hole and move to a state that is thriving, usually a conservative state. Unfortunately, they aren't really smart enough to live in a place like that. They insist on bringing with them all the failed policies and beliefs that completely destroyed the place they just fled. Liberals are like locusts with cancer. They invade, destroy, and move on looking for a new viable host to consume. Texas calls it getting californicated. That pretty much sums it up...

Mostly King County and Pierce county are stains on this state that need cleansed. I-5 actually runs west of the mountain ranges. The rest of the state is rather nice.

Years ago, but beautiful country.

Compare west coast liberal cities/states with Texas, Oklahoma, really, any conservative state that is doing well - there are many to choose from. The differences are the important part. Its mainly just having some common sense and priorities.

For example, Texas has infrastructure running ahead of growth, and growth is substantial. Compare that to California who, amid the worst homeless crisis in the nation, focused their efforts on banning plastic straws and replacing them with recycled paper straws....that come wrapped in plastic... See what I mean?

Not ALL West coast cities.

Ever been to San Diego?

Dying is not the description I would chose. The land of construction cranes currently. With 9 skyscrapers going up currently in a relatively compact downtown. A whole Naval Reseach and developement thing going in right on the bay as well.

Contrary to the Portandias we increased police spending for a city with a 70% democrat majority and openly gay mayor.

We do have an annoying homeless problem. And about all they can do is keep moving them every few days and cleaning the sidewalk.

But the great thing about gentrification is once the new building goes up they hire private security that will essentially "clean up" the square block.

And they're not really homegrown. It's a national trend to give repeated vagrants one way Greyhound tickets to California. Las Vegas alone gives us about 300 a year. About 75% of all homeless find their way here.

And if the cleaned themselves off and got a shelter bed everybody is hiring at $15.50/hour minimum wage, but they don't want to work... just scream at each-other and bus stops.

And then we send them to LA because they love everybody there. And we need to gentrify that area East of the Stadium for more tap houses and overpriced apartments with elevators that constantly break down.

You mean like God & Country.

It's laughable when Conservatives claim they are not about control.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, I, personally, am more about control. At 75, I'm more Old School.

However, I appreciate being raised in SoCA, Los Angeles beach area. We've had the Unruh Civil Rights Act since 1959 -- I've never had to unlearn prejudices.

My area is Hollywood/Santa Monica -- so we have a lot of "color outside the lines" people. It's a very competitive area in all ways. You don't survive if you're a flunkee.

I don't know these control freak conservatives you talk about. I don't want to control anyone. In fact, I am pretty much the opposite. I want to leave people alone and be left alone. But I do expect government to do its job and keep things running smoothly. Its not all about control, but someone does have to be in charge. I prefer it be conservatives.

Uh huh -- yes -- conservatives have this delusion they are not about control.

Their whole lifestyle is about controlled behavior.

I'm not saying its wrong -- only delusional that they refuse to see it.

BTW -- plastic straws are a serious environmental problem.

Because of their shape they "escape" recycling bins and end up in the ocean -- where they're also elusive to clean up because of their shape.

And liberals have this delusional belief that conservatives are all about control. Its the perpetual victim mindset you are so famous for.

You and those like you would do well to stop, once and for all, trying to tell conservatives what we think and how we feel. You will NEVER get it right. You are incapable of portraying us in any light other than the one that suits your interests and your agenda. Every single characterization of yours is just a bunch of liberal talking points.

It is painfully obvious you know nothing about conservatives, or worse yet, you do know but prefer the lies.

Yeah....so ignore the tens of thousands of homeless people crapping on the sidewalks. One state out of fifty bans plastic straws and thinks it makes a difference. Thats kind of like liberals going bat# crazy over carbon footprints when other countries couldn't care less. We all share the same atmosphere. Or liberal gasoline policies that require different additives and blends for smog control while neighboring states have none, as if the smog stops at the border. It only means that gas is harder to get and more expensive to produce and does nothing for the environment. But that is what liberals do - they pass ineffective ridiculous legislation that either accomplishes nothing or makes things worse. But it gives them a reason to pat themselves on the back, give themselves a raise, and trick the low forehead mouth breathing liberal voters into re-electing them.

So, environmentalism is Liberal.

Banning non-biodegradable products is Liberal.

Oil dependency is apparently not Liberal.

And all that somehow connects to homelessness.

Follow the money. As long as things are #, they can continue to ask for more money, and then more money, and then more money. If things are honkey dory, well then, they don't 'need' more money because everything is working well and as it should under the current budgets. It's a move the Dems make ALL THE TIME. They need more money to fix this, fix that, help them and those and these. It's all about the M O N E Y !!!!!!

This is the answer. They also can’t run their commercials pandering to their slaves how they’re going to fix all the problems. Create problems, promise solutions …but never solve, on purpose. I live in Los Hellgeles. First time in my life the last couple of years I’m stepping over homeless walking around everywhere in my immediate area. Marina Del Rey even has lines of RVs parked everywhere and tents propped up all over the place.
