I will admit that our incursions into Iraq, Syria, and various other countries does make us look rather hypocritical...

It's impossible to ignore that...

I can understand Putin's concerns to a certain extent...

American effectively initiated a coup in Ukraine to remove a Russia friendly government and install a western friendly one.. this is inescapable.. This was a provication..

But this does not excuse Russia for its actions..

If they were carrying out a peace keeping narrative, my opinions would be different..

But given the attocities in Bucha and Irpin we can't stan by any longer and do nothing...

PA

Yet still, here you sit - I think is safe to assume - in your nice, safe place calling for somebody to be sent in harms way to carry out this alleged fight for justice and freedom.

First, were you calling out against the admitted "incursions" of the US and NATO when they were happening? I'd bet not! And if not, why not?

Second - again: If you are so passionate about the need to teach big, bad Putin a lesson, are you communicating your sentiments from the battlefield in Ukraine? If not, why? I'd your are crying out for "somebody" (actually meaning somebody else) to go do it, this is nothing more than hypocritical virtue signaling and social media posturing. If you really mean it, let's see some action!

Go to Ukraine and get your boots on the ground! If not, just stop it!

It can not be NATO troops as that could stand a greater than odd's chance of triggering a nuclear reprisal by Russia and triggering WW3.

BUT if they entered under a UN flag?.

Oh, thank you so very much for wanting to gamble with my life, and those of so many others--quite literally hundreds of millions of people. Sorry, but the Ukraine isn't worth that much.

And after Ukraine?

Yeah -- stopping Putin.

You're a drone.

Reading your posts makes me lose hope for humanity.

I seriously hope that brains like yours are a minority because your mindset is f#king dangerous.

Liberal my arse...

Not having a nuclear war.

That doesn't bother me. If its gonna happen, its gonna happen.

At some point -- threats need to be stopped.

If there's any world left -- we'll rebuild -- as has been done before.

I feel we're (world) is at a turning point. Go Forward!

Do you know how many people felt the exact same way about COVID, and it affected a chiton more people than this special military operation in Ukraine

as for Putin's threats they are pretty hollow, it's all he has got. It's virtually nothing he isn't going to go nuclear or attack a NATO nation. All he is gonna do is bluster about.

COVID

Wrong thread.

I thought you were more intelligent and I didn't need to point out the hypocrisy about the sanctity of life we are seeing here

LOL again so we are gonna vax, restrict lock down the whole world and 2 years later we are gonna risk nuking it into a cinder over Ukraine?

Yep that's left's logic for ya....brilliant

How charitable of you.

It's really disgusting how liberals always become the things they claim to hate.)

Firstly, I want to make it clear in no way is my reply you is also also an attempt to spit on Anne!

I think raising a 14 year old while in her 70’s is beyond admirable!
(been there done that, twice……phew)

So, to my reply to lefty’s turning into what they hate.

As a boy of 11-13 I saw the Hippy Generation at the huge music festivals that was staged in a big field in a local university very close to my home. Today it’s a big piece of the U of Ma.
Hi the free love, the deafening chants of “free the people”
and all of that at the monster protests where they Raged Against The Machine.
We Were still deeply involved in the Vietnam war at the time.

That same generation holds the reins of power today in so many aspects. of course they were brainwashed just like we all have been. Just look at what they are doing to the kids today.
Who was it that said, give me the young mind of a child and anything is possible?

Boy oh boy, those so-called Hippies no longer hate and Rage Against The Machine.
THEY are the machine and it’s us, We The People they hate.
They want a One Nation World filled with a single color population they rule over and that color ain’t white.

Come on man…..

With all that said.

I can’t agree with your reply any stronger.

I just wish you had not aimed it at Anne to make your point.

I’ve read many of Annes posts and I don’t always agree with her stance but she quite often does wright things
that are spot on.

I love the meat of your reply to her here but please try to leave the hate out of it and stop with the personal attacks
on what you ‘think’ she is!
Maybe if you could tap Annes head with USB cable let’s say, you may very well come away from that experience with a totally new perspective of what as well as the why that makes her who and what she is.
Who knows, maybe you’d be best friends?!??

Im 64 now so I’ve seen a lot during my years.

Does being mean and hateful to anyone here or anywhere help things?

I agree.

There comes a point when a bully has to be stopped -- I think we're at that point.

Consequences? Sure -- but what are the alternative consequences if not stopped?

Ummm...how is this affecting you...on a personal level...beyond emoting what the squawk box told you to emote...

So...you really think that nuclear annihilation is better than just keeping our noses out of none of our business...?

Really...?

To create biological objects on foreign territory that study the reaction of the body of Russian people to various diseases is also a kind of attack.

Notice Russia hasn't spoken a word of that in over a month. That was just throwing s### at the wall to see if it would stick, and it has with some.

I'm not a warhawk for Ukraine. I know better, and realize the western media is running a campaign right now. But Russia is doing the same thing.

This is a disinformation war.

We have a far larger Nuclear arsenal combined than Russia

The only chance we / the world has of avoiding what seems inevitable is if a decision is made within the Kremlin to put and end to this madness , without that all I can say is enjoy every normal day to the full because soon all that will be gone.

YES!

I agree that NATO should go all in, even carry out attacks on Russia itself.
But I do not think they should do that now, we should give them a 60 day deadline to leave Ukraine before we bring it.

I don't see the point of any such deadline. Putin is not going to believe that we're serious about such a deadline or that we have the courage to engage militarily.

We don't even have the courage to go all in on sanctions.

Absolutely nothing that affects us personally?

Why don't you send Joe Biden a letter telling him what he should do to resolve this?

Maybe you can squeeze a few nuclear options in there.

Hands up, I haven't read all this thread.

As many may know I've been a fierce opponent of Putin and his uncalled for and unnecessary invasion of Ukraine.
Yes, mistakes have been made by all concerned parties both prior to the invasion and afterwards.
But at the end of the day it was Putin's decision to start all this killing, he's the one ultimately responsible for the death and destruction and the mass displacement of people.
And he is the one repeatedly threatening to use first strike nuclear weapons.

And he is the one person who can put a stop to it in an instant.
Yet he chooses not to.

Personally, I don't react well to bully's.
I am a product of my era and the environment I was raised up in and have lived in.
I meet bully's head on and its my experience that the most effective way is to strike back harder than they can.

I've never backed down from anyone or any situation in my life.

But I am not a national leader and people's lives are not decided on my judgement calls.
The course of world events and maybe even its future isn't reliant on decisions I make.

Yes, I think we should be taking measures to try and deter Putin from continuing this war.
Yes, we should be helping Ukraine defend itself from this naked act of aggression.

But we absolutely should not be escalating things by sending NATO troops into the theatre of war.
That would be madness.
It would bring about wholescale war, without a shadow of a doubt and would plunge the world into a scenario that could literally send us back to The Dark Ages.
No sane person wants that.

Putin will not put a stop to this unless he can somehow save some face.
Pride and ego are his major drivers.
Even though the morally right thing to do is Putin call an immediate ceasefire and agree to mediated negotiations he will not do that without some sort of incentive.
That's just his nature....and that has to be taken into consideration.

So what do we do?
I honestly don't know - as usual I have questions and opinions but sadly very few answers.

Sending NATO troops in will not put an end to the killing....quite the opposite.
But it is also imperative that we do not bow down meekly to him, that we don't abandon Ukraine and that we remain steadfast in our opposition to him and show some resolve and determination.

Ummm...why would Russia launch nukes...when they can launch hyper sonic kinetics...with the same impact radius...without the radiation...

You're saying hypersonic missiles--without a warhead--can cause as much damage as a strategic-yield nuclear weapon?

I'd love to know where you heard that because that doesn't sound right.

Ummm..This scenario...explains the theory...

More than that, when the rod hits, the explosion would be on par with the magnitude of a ground-penetrating nuclear weapon – but with no fallout.

That's the basic idea...

YouSir

I'm familiar with the concept of "rods from God."

We don't have those. Your kinetic impactor needs to be going a lot faster than Russia's hypersonic missiles can to hit with megatons of energy.

ETA: Don't just take my word for it, check for yourself. Google "kinetic energy calculator" and punch in the mass of one of those rods from the article you sent me (24,000 pounds). Input the speed you think it could hit at, say 20,000 mph that you stated in one of your previous messages. You'll get a number for the energy produced. Then convert that energy to TNT equivalent.

I got about 0.1 kiloton of energy. Maybe I did something wrong, but that's about 100x less energy than the atomic bombs we used on Japan. And Our nuclear weapons today have yields 1000x great than those weapons.

So no, rods from God aren't a thing. Maybe someday in the far future.

This war is exactly what the US and NATO intended. Why would they end it with nukes now, when the MIC is making billions from it. The US's biggest export is military hardware and munitions.

Somehow -- I doubt they support their own demise.
