Spotify invested $500,000,000 dollars in Joe Rogan and I'm sure Rogan had his team of lawyers make sure his contract was solid and in his favor. Good luck to anyone that thinks they can deplatform Rogan.

Has anyone found out what Joe thinks about all this? I'm sure he has been worried sick. (but he took some horse de-wormer and is now fine)

The news is so irrelevant it probably won't even reach Rogan.

I was curios to see what his convictions were worth. It just doesn't seem fair that he can't silence anyone he wishes. It's like they don't realize who he is. He is Kneel Young damnit! you hear me southern man?

Either way he got his wish, not to be on the same platform as Joe Rogaine.

he should double down and ask to have his stuff taken down from the internet and tv since rogan is os on it.

glad to see this blow up in his face , nothing more idiotic than trying to squash free speech or believing silencing opposing views is a good thing..

Meh, I don't care about his personal opinions or pretty much anyone else's. It happens all the time, you can see the same mentality on display here regularly.

same here i could care less aswell. However I dont see you or myself wanting to close ats accounts because of a posters idioctic rant or because we disagree on issues with them.

neil went full retard and in this timeline typically going full retarded gets rewarded. glad to see it didn't this time.

btw could neil now get in a contract lawsuit if he doesn't own his music since he just got pulled from a financial source for his comments. now that would be funny

I heard that if he actually owned the rights to the vast majority of his music, then yeah he would of been losing some $.

But since he doesn't own a lot of his stuff, its probably closer the to $57 a month

I am a huge fan of Rock Music and know of not one person who likes Young. They do play Old Man, Heart of Gold, and Rust Never Sleeps and rarely anything else on the radio in the middle of Flyover America. I know someone who works in the Music Business and I am hearing the Adelle / Taylor Swift line of singers get the lions share of the performance and writers royalties. Others do ok but someone like Young is counting on the hippie stations to play his music. The kids don't like the hippies stations. When we old farts die off that music will be long dead too. Those Country stars who write their own stuff are raking it in these days too. So Kid Rock being a CRock artist is fitting he moved to the Music City with his CMA peeps.

Country Rock: Low class redneck music that is actually well thought out. But you can bet I am not playing that stuff for my Beethoven loving friends!
I would be mocked. They don't get it anyway so why insult people with it? Don't matter I have none of the kid's music.

NEVER go full retard!

ATS does that on its own. Try posting about Holocaust denial or that Sandy Hook is a hoax and watch what happens. I saw a couple of winners catch a ban the other day for the former. If someone reported them then they helped get them banned for their opinion which they obviously disagreed about. This isn't a Constitutional 'free speech' issue, Spotify is a private platform which can do as it pleases and it pleased them to remove Young's music instead of Rogan's podcast.

Neil Young only 'owns' half of his songs anyway.

I would think Hipgnosis would be pissed about what he did.

Earlier this month, Young sold 50% of his songwriting copyrights to the U.K. investment company Hipgnosis Songs, which was founded by music industry veteran Merck Mercuriadis. Most of the recordings in Young's discography are distributed by Warner Music Group, though a handful are distributed by Universal Music Group. In his second open letter posted late Wednesday, Young thanked those partners and acknowledged the financial hit they are taking, and said that 60% of the streaming income on his material came via Spotify. "Losing 60% of worldwide streaming income by leaving Spotify is a very big deal," Young wrote, "a costly move, but worth it for our integrity and our beliefs. Misinformation about COVID is over the line."

now that would be quite the ironic conundrum.

What if....Joe Roagan bought the rights to one of his songs and then sued him.

That would be an irony sammich, filled with irony, and a side of side splitting hilarity.

This just in, Graham Nash after reading the bone head move that Neil Young made on NPR, he has rewritten Our House and and changed the title to Your House dedicated to Young.

[Chorus]
Your house will be a very, very, very rundown house
With two dead cats in the yard
Life will be so hard
Now 60 Percent has gone away

[Verse 1]
You can't light the fire
Or place the flowers in the vase
That you couldn't afford today

When asked why he rewrote the song, Graham replied Nash is a idiot, you don't bite the hand that feeds you.

The video talks about Neil's subscriptions and Rogan's.. No comparison in subscribers.

But it did say that Neil's Spotify streaming income was a whopping 60% of his total streaming income.

He was in no position to make demands.

Makes you wonder how much of a PITA he has been though for Spotify to take the excuse to dump him.

Hurt you enough to comment on it apparently. Do you miss Neil already, or are you upset that Rogan is still on Spotify?

Spotify is handling this the wrong way.
They should tell niel young to STFU because you are under contract. We will continue to have your whining music on our platform until the contract expires.
