Based on The Tempest, actually.

My daughter played Miranda (Altaira) on stage a few years ago.

This movie came out when I was about 11 years old. never seen it before. This movie would have gave me nightmares back then. Even with the now cheesy effects, but back then for my young mind it would have set me off.

Saved link for full movie going to watch it tonight alone and see what happens, lol
Thanks!

Back in the late 50's (when I was a kid) ...1951's - The Thing From Another World - imho - was a very scary movie to watch --- What with 6' 7" James Arness (Marshall Matt Dillon - star of the Gunsmoke TV series) starring as The Thing creature.

maybe the most realistic alien movie was 'Strange Invaders' a Canadian film. the beautiful Nancy Allen was in (I think Paul LeMat was the lead)

the aliens settle in a small town in the midwest. they do their thing and just want to be left alone.

that would be hard today as intrusive as government and certain political groups are.

The movie with the same name as the OPs mention, The Arrival with Charlie Sheen, IMO is one of the best alien movies ever made and one of the most realistic. Not a big-budget sci-fi monster but a good down-to-earth ( pun intended) story.

Of course there's always the Godzilla movie: Invasion Of ASTRO MONSTER, Ishiro Honda, 1965 - Final Battle
