Ill add: your fatal flaw here is in trying to assign intent, which you can in no way reasonably know. Despite your apparent belief to the contrary.

Intent is admittedly implied by her incredible intelligence and background on the issue.

Would not make the same claim about many others.

But good enough for me in this unique case.

Perfect. You have an opinion.

Should I claim you, too, are an expert because of your obvious incredible intellect, like Sotomayor? Your opinion now transcencds opinion because you are just so damned smart you know more than you were ever educated in?

LOL

Are you unaware that existing knowledge is a common component of inferring intent?

A lawyer would never get away with claiming he wasn't aware that is illegal to drink and drive here, but a recent immigrant might have a chance.

Can you name one person on the planet more informed on abortion issues than soto?

Intent can be properly inferred here.

Outright laughable to claim ignorance on soto's behalf.

Think you need to reread my post.. was talking about ACB, not AOC...
Amy Comey Barret or whatever her name is spelled.
Contrary to what so many in the prolife camp want us to believe, pregnancy is not a,walk in the park... I do expect someone sitting on the supreme court to be sensitive to that fact!

Yes, a fetus do not have consciousness until is born, if we did we would remember when we were in the uterus, so the justice is right.

Interestingly the bible in genesis talks about it.

Since God intends for that human in the womb to have a soul, it's best to leave it alone and let the assigned soul take possession, or you'll mess up the plans.

Maybe someone else has asked this, but…
Do you clearly remember any events in your life during your first year after being born?

If not, would you assume that you were brain dead for that first year of life? That you were not conscious?

Then follows the question: Would it be acceptable to kill babies under the age of one year if the parents no longer wanted them?

I am just playing devils advocate.

I believe the description is apt. Neither is self-aware or viable on their own.

This does not mean I condone abortion.

... She isn't completely wrong.

What she's is saying is that a fetus reacts automatically based on instinct baked into it at a biological level, and that it hasn't yet reached a level where it is aware of itself as an independent entity

A person who is brain dead is coming at this from the other side. They react automatically to stimulus like heat or cold but that they aren't aware of what they are experiencing at a conscious level because the part of them which would do this is too badly damaged.

Its like... A computer that boots into the bios before you've installed the OS.

Not my argument, but it is hers. I'm just explaining it.

Personally, I'd look at increasing condom use, and getting people to keep it in their pants. Failing that, use the rear entrance. Or get Netflix

Good points. Of course, even brain-dead people can survive occasionally.

There should be a daily pill any female can take to prevent pregnancy. If she forgets and God puts a child in her, that's on her. Someone will love the little person, if she doesn't, after he/she is born.

Yes, I misread your acronym, please disregard the statement that followed.

I don't disagree with your last part, and never claimed otherwise.

Have not even stated my actual opinions on any abortion related issue.

Intentionally.

This discussion is about one of the most informed people on the planet regarding abortion issues intentionally making easily provable false statements WHILE hearing arguments in an abortion case.

Nothing else.

Also intentionally.

This little guy was a prime abortion prospect.

My God...look at how beautiful he is: www.wvtm13.com...

Would love to see him at age 5...running about...filled with curiosity and excitement about the world around him.

That pill does not exist...
And, even if it did and no women ever had an unintended pregnancy...
ABORTIONS WOULD STILL BE NEEDED!

The former (thankfully!) Governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam, advocated for just that. He and Anthony Fauci have the same cold-hearted mindset.

People would abort babies from an intended pregnancy?

Why?

I'm a grown (oldish) man who tears up when thinking about unborn children being aborted/killed.

I can kill an evil adult with zero remorse, but seeing little children suffer (or worse) brings such personal anguish.

My wife and I adopted from Chicago's foster-care system. Wish we could have taken on more of the lovely lives, but we both have (had) careers.

I am pro choice and i base my believes in life on actually religion, the soul enters the body at birth to become a full human.

And that is my opinion a fetus do not have consciousness until is born.
Yes, Clergy and even md’s know that the life starts at conception, though there is something about the “quickening” which is in a later part of development.

You posted reasons why someone would abort a baby that they wanted?

And not to save the life of the mother, or situations with rape victims, they have nothing to do with this discussion of what soto just did.

Neither does the reason why someone would abort an intended pregnancy, but I'm curious.

Is she saying a Human Fetus IS a Brain-Dead Person? It sounds like a stretch to me, but I'm not medically trained. Is Justice Sotomayor?

If she is, she needs to write a complaint to Crackerjack and get her money for that training refunded.

According to Dr. Jan Nijhuis, a full professor and researcher at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, Fetuses Have Memories at as early as 30 weeks.

Her statement is an offensive, despicable joke.

By the way, this is a great example of why I say barrett's comment about women being able to abandon their babies is more outrageous and dangerous than what soto... however it is spelled is claimed to have said...

Just gloss over those nine months of pregnancy, all the complications that can develope and how they can affect the women and her family... I guess they don't matter...
It is all about the baby!!

"Her statement is an offensive, despicable joke"

Offensive both for reasons related to the issue at hand AND the absolutely dishonorable behavior of a supreme violating the most basic expectation of a person privileged to serve in her role - to be honest and impartial.
