I was looking for a new game to play on Game Pass last week and came across a game called Visage by Sad Square Studio.
I watched the trailer and quickly found this is the type of game I like.
What got me right away was the "Silent Hill: The Room" vibes from the game ( Oh the irony ) If you already played Visage and got the "Room 302" achievement you will understand how bullseye that vibe was lol.
So I load up the game and get treated to one hell of an introductory cut scene.
Its very disturbing and sets the tone for the rest of the game.
The game tells you very, very limited information.
There's nothing to hold your hand saying go here, then here... And that's by design.
Its a Horror Puzzle game.
The game is meant to be difficult for a reason.
And once you figure out the plot you will completely understand why.
Saying that, all the clues are there in game but you have to have the right kind of puzzle solving mind to see them.
Ever notice how difficult it can be to solve a puzzle when your mind is under a lot of stress?
If not, you will pretty quickly after starting this game.
One thing the game makes very clear though is to avoid standing in the dark as it will effect your sanity.
And boy does it.
Paranormal events within the game also take a toll on your in game sanity.
And when things start to get a bit crazy, your encouraged to pop a few pills to calm those nerves and clear your mind.
It took me about an hour before even starting Chapter 1.
All the time before that was spent creeping around and exploring the house.
Searching through cupboards, shelves and rooms, looking over my shoulder at every thump and creaking noise.
The atmosphere of the house was incredibly done.
In fact, there isn't one destination in the game that wasn't beautifully put together.
The sounds, The attention to detail, even down to the very minor details,
It all sets the stage for one terrifying adventure.
Playing with head phones isnt mandatory of course, but to fully immerse yourself, play with them on.
Oh and if you don't use a guide for the game - your going to be stumped.
The game is hard.
It provides some clues, but you really, really need to pay attention to them.
Before long you begin to piece together what's happening to you and why your in the house to begin with.
I'm not going to spoil anything here, because its part of the experience.
But mental illness and addictions play a huge role in the game in which it revolves around the main character.
I highly recommend anyone whos a fan of Silent Hill types of games to play this.
After you get stumped, find a good video guide on youtube to help you along.
There's so much you can miss, but to truly be able to appreciate all the work gone into this game, a good guide is highly recommended.
Im really looking forward to more from Sad Square.
They did an amazing job on this game.
Dude!
This game was made for you.
You are going to really appreciate it.
I’ll find out later tonight, I’m going to play it with my waifu I read it’s decently scary for people watching you play so hopefully it is scary
and not another BS horror title.
I started last night n only played for an hour or so. The first quest I chose to take was the one with the key on the wall. Didn’t get far yet still
searching for a way to get in the attic and figure out what’s going on with the rocking chair in the mirror.
Also found two matryoshka dolls but can’t figure out what’s up with the two up stairs by the master bedroom, I’m guessing I’ll figure that out
later on in the game. I’m playing with no guide the ole fashioned way.
