That is very unusual. Australia can have earthquakes but the vast majority are smaller ones.

I wonder if something else may have happened especially as the quake is so shallow.

Something to ponder.

Yes strange how this goes off during a time of unrest. www.skynews.com.au... 1de I suppose the aftershocks might cause some concern. I wonder if they will waive the jab requirements for construction workers?

Oh damn!
Yes she is. And I know what it’s like to have Mother Nature put a hit on you.

I have 5 friends that have been struck by lightning.
You don’t have that many people around you get the big zap and not know that mother N has a hit out on ya.
But, you just gotta get up every day and do your thing.
Cant let the fear of lightning strikes ruin the day.
Lol jk

That's actually very interesting now that you mention it. I would think that now would not be the time you would want your construction workers side-lined, quite the opposite. Hopefully this puts these workers in a more powerful position...

That sounds pretty crazy with the lightning strikes.

I was just trying to express a little concern and maybe lighten the mood a little.

It is extremely unusual.

We also have all those protests breaking out in Melbourne as we speak... something to ponder.

While not a massive quake, it was actually a long tremor, and very wide spread. Reports from as far as Tasmania felt it.

I'm actually a touch surprised. No one has brought up a theory that it was a man-made event designed to, perhaps, stop the protests. I'm just saying, if I were an evil overlord, and again I just want to reiterate...I AM NOT!!
I might do something like this, assuming I had the technology available to do so...
(dangit, hit the wrong emoticon again...mwahahahah).

That is a pretty big one for Melbourne. I have heard of them there in the past, but usually they are under five. We don't get much info on the smaller ones there, never hear of them unless they do pretty good damage. How badly did this one hurt the city?

Magnitude 6.0 is a real shaker. I can still remember the 6.0 Loma Prieta earthquake in Bay Area, CA back in 1989. Not fun!
