So I'll be having a doggy staying with me in August because her mommy has to take care of sad business.
She only speaks Italian. So far we managed with hand and feet because my Italian is... just bad.
But now I want to send her a text asking if Mia (dog) will bring her blanket so she has something that smells like home.
I got:
Mia porterà la sua coperta? in modo che abbia qualcosa che profuma di casa

But if I try G.translate to see if it makes sense it just doesn't.
Can someone help please?

With the way that's phrased you're asking if the dog will bring the blanket.

I would say, "Hai una coperta che ha un profumo come a casa?".

Ok, I see you're sorted with that.

You could try learning some common doggy commands that she should understand.

Seduto = Sit
Fermo or Basta = Stop
Vieni = Come or Heel
Zitto = Shut Up
Buono = Good Dog or Be Good
A Cuccia (pronounced Coocha) = Bedtime

I used to experiment with our dog. In the end they seem to react to the inflection and tone in your voice rather than the spoken word.

'Mordere culo'.

Probably the most important one...

Doggy's a biatch? An somebody's speaking Italian?
Those are so called romance languages.

Curious. I'm looking up a couple of words in the dictionary online.

il arto = the limb, hand or foot, arm or leg, what have you?
il membro = the member, limb, eye, ear, or any other body part?

Sembra una domanda un po' strana per un italiano. In Italia i cani non hanno usanze americane.

Un pezzo di stoffa non inganna un cane italiano, probabilmente lo farebbe arrabbiare di più.

If you want to make the Italian dog feel like home, give him the food he normally eats. Walk him at the same times he does at home and look for a similar place.

He is perfectly aware of what are you trying to do and he wants to keep the same quality of life.

Make pasta and tomato sauce. He will say "This place smells like home".

It's an Italian thing.

I mostly cook Italian anyways, so we got that covered. I already know her, she's actually born in Italy. The dog I mean. Found on the streets when she was a puppy.
Mom's little princess, I don't think she can get angry, I'm just worried she feels abandoned, or gets homesick.
...and I mean she travels with her own suitcase full of toys and harnesses so why not un pezzo di stoffa too
And a lot of dogtainment. Dance class...

There's a "thing" in Italian.

Technically "la resa" — that which is yielded or put forth, the produce or goods — but for some reason the meaning of this word has been weakened over time.

So "la cosa" — which is the proper "thing" in Italian — literally a "case" or "cause" in English, but this word is too strong in Italian, viz. "la cosa nostra" ("our thing" or "this thing of ours").

???

There are many "Italian things". Every time you find a "thing" that we do in different way than the rest of the world, it's an "Italian thing". It's more than the swagg.

Dogs are like children. Anxiety is the default mode for most of them when faced with change.

Don't try too hard. Give her space but be there. Be patient, be kind, be respectful and, English or Italian, you'll both be fine.

Catminding is a lot easier. Feed the beast twice a day and walk away.

She came yesterday. First she was quite flabbergasted they just left her here. She's constantly seeking body contact, leaning against my legs or snuggling on the couch and in bed.
But she hasn't eaten yet. Probably the nerves?

You probably overcooked the pasta.
